      Golovkin is an elite fighter.

To beat an elite fighter you have to have elite skills yourself. Froch never had those.

Sure he does. Froch is also an elite fighter, who's ranked top 10 p4p by Ring. The Froch from a few years ago would've knocked GGG out. The current version, I'm not so sure.

This is what it comes down to.

Murray did an awful lot right, but when it came down to it he couldn't hurt Golovkin and Golovkin could hurt him.

There are two ways to do it. Smothering, disrupting, clinching, and mauling him, or countering him with combinations that he can't ignore. Neither are easy because the first eats up a lot of energy, and the second involves a lot of risk.

Ward is the obvious candidate, but I reckon Froch would take him to war as well.

He most certainly doesn't. He's an overachiever, tough as nails, that's for sure.

However, he's never fought a guy like GGG (yeah, i'm aware that he fought Andre Ward), Golovkin would be the meaner, the tougher guy in the ring if they had ever met.

Well I think Golovkin gets the nod on the last few posts here.

The advantage which neutralises anything Froch is imagined to have over him now or before, or as someone else said, anybody with a hard punch, is that Golovkin has an iron chin.

He can walk through anybodys punch at MW.

The only serious competition is if his fellow Kovalev would step down or vice verse. A Hopkins fight might have been decent but he needs to retire now. And I think Alvarez is strong enough, powerful with a good enough chin and skills to compete.

That basically exhausts his current hopefuls.

Oh and I suppose Andre Ward but he'd get smashed these days.

inside game, good stamina, respectable punching power, ability to keep the fight in the middle of the ring

people say Lara would school GGG, i disagree so much lol

he might make it to the 12th round, but he'd be losing wide on the scorecards. judges don't like that ****

GGG has a great defense against jabs and his power is legit. You can't simply stand in front of him so he can punch. He doesn't counter punch and the body blows slows down his offense.

Its is going to take a good fighter with a good chin/defense that can counter him with power so he don't come in so freely. At 160 right now I don't see anyone that can make him go 12.

I wonder what was the size of the ring against Murray

I'd like to see purely for the style match-up, but given how risk averse Lara was against Canelo, it's hard to see him taking any chances at all against Golovkin.

And unlike Canelo, Golovkin would know how to trap him too.
