Basically you need great A level boxer. Prime Martinez would have a good chance of beating GGG. Fast, strong, good chin. I would have gone 60-40 for Martinez given the speed, power and downright better boxing skills. Lets keep in mind that this was Golovkins hardest victory (yes, he did beat the crap out of Murray) but Murray isnt exactly an A level fighter.
What does it take to beat Golovkin?

this is a classic case of the underdog doing better than expected so people react irrationally. round 2 is thought of as murray's best round and to give it to him is highly debatable. he landed one right hand and some body shots(some of his body shots were also clearly low). golovking landed his own body shots, a heavy jab that he kept pushing murray around with, and hard shots to the head like the uppercut with ten seconds to go. it was a pretty close round but why does murray win it? in a vacuum would you really say his punches were better? prob not but we aren't in a vacuum we are in a world where people judge fights based on preconceived notions of how they think its going to play out. they don't judge on what actually played out. basically gale van hoy 4 lyfe.Comment

martinez had a good chin? martinez didn't have a defensive construct. his defense was moving away. you can't apply murray's strong points to someone else when that other person doesn't have them. martinez is a better mover than murray but when you got close to martinez he was easily hittable unlike murray therefore its really only a matter of time until golovkin hits martinez with something big and changes the fight in his favor. martinez always gasses for a couple rounds during a fight. a guy with poor defense gassing and allowing golovkin to get off punches=a knockout lossBasically you need great A level boxer. mathed was probably drunk, high, or temporarily insane due to golovkinitis but he wrote this during the round by round...
Man, Murray looks busted up but I'll be damned if he didn't come back and take the 5th. GGG looked tired and Murray tagged him with plenty of flush punches. He just doesn't have the power but he is catching GGG more than anyone I have seen yet.
4-1 +2kds....MurrayComment
