Haymon is looking good so far this year. If what he is doing forces GBP and TR to make compelling matchups on HBO, and they make better fights which forces showtime to put on better fights then I'm happy.

ODH better be careful-if he doesn't grow and look out for his big fighters, why would any promising prospects go to GBP?

Oscar is definitely right about one thing. GB and TR aren't going anywhere. Haymon is going to basic tv but its not gonna make the tr and gb fighters irrelevant. Hell a majority of haymons stable are unknown to casual fans

Top Rank and GB aren't going anywhere. I don't like Hayman, but I do like the idea of him putting boxing on network TV.

The post tv era of boxing saw superstars created by fighting on the undercards of other established fighters to gain fan base.

Name one superstar from top rank or golden boy that can swing that. Manny does crap ppv and he is the biggest star between the two companies and is not commanding a large enough following to do so. The further Floyd distanced himself from Manny the less relevant he became.

On the flip side you have fighters that are marketable and have major upside in Garcia, broner , Wilder, and soon to be Khan fighting on regular tv with major exposure. Haymon poses a huge threat to both companies.

only time will tell how this haymon thing pans out. i agree though that boxing needs to get with the times and modernize itself.

oh a side note, its gonna be real interesting/funny how the bscene vets handle the new members that network tv attract.

Gary Russell Sr. was correct when he said Oscar Meeting with Bob was really about breaking Haymon. Team up with my enemy to defeat our enemy.

The problem with that is Haymon is taking the approach of building his fighter's profiles like he would a singer or musical group. The more exposure they get on Free TV will make them more popular to the casual fans. Those that shine the brightest will appear on Showtime and hopefully the only PPV fights will be mega fights between 2 high profile combatants.

Like him or not Haymon has a plan and a proven track record of making mega stars.

Also did anybody pick up on Oscar saying they would continue to work with HBO but made no mention of working with Showtime?
GBP and TR better merge if they plan on remaining the top promotional companies in boxing cause it seems the minute either of them sign one fighter Haymon signs two. Plus if you're going to be truthful about the situation, Haymon advises the majority of the whose who in boxing. In addition, the promoters that have been getting shut out of time on HBO and other networks as well as being unable to sign premium fighters are now getting his business. So really it's a win win for everybody not with or named GBP and TR in my opinion.

With Haymon going the route of working to control the vast majority of TV dates, the onus is now on promoters actually promoting shows.

That means that DiBella, Goosen, Sampson Boxing, Warriors Boxing, GYM, Matchroom and a host of other promoters (who didn't get TV opportunities in the TR/GBP dichotomy) will now be getting TV opportunities across multiple channels.

Let TR/GBP/Main Events/K2 battle over the 15 HBO dates, lol.
                      Dibella didn't get opportunities?

Perhaps you weren't around after the 2000 Olympics, when he left the tv side at HBO and started promoting...and threw a whole bunch of money at that Olympic class while also getting plenty of tv dates with which to showcase them...beginning with the Night of Olympians with Jermain Taylor and others at Madison Square Garden.

                      Dibella had his opportunities.

That he didn't do more with them is on him, and certainly not HBO, who gave him a lot more opportunities when he was starting out than most promoters get.

You mentioned Goossen, but what exactly is Goossen Promotions at this point? Especially now that Dan Goossen isn't even around anymore.

There are no top American promoters involved in this PBC venture.

You joke about "15 HBO dates" and yet you apparently get all excited about 11 NBC dates (only 5 of which are at night)...which THEY paid for. And they're reportedly going to be paying for the promoting and marketing of these events as well.

You might want to wait until you see what all the money actually get them...not in terms of headlines in January or February...but in actual revenue in the months and years to come.
