It's been a long time but I remember it as master boxing. I don't remember Leonard running away the way Lara often did in his fight with Canelo.

That's why Duran quitting was so inexplicable and why he was treated so harshly. If he was getting his ass kicked in a one-sided fight no one would wonder why he quit.
      he wasn't thinking.

duran has made so many excuses.

but i think he just thought "I DON'T HAVE IT TODAY, I BEAT HIM ONCE, LET HIM TAKE THIS ONE AND WE'LL JUST FIGHT A 3RD"

      he didn't anticipate the reaction/backlash

If you want to see two guys stand toe to toe and slug it out it was running. If you are a fan of hit and not be hit then it was master boxing. Sugar knew was going to win a war of wills and knew could win with his footwork, hand speed, and defense. It was brilliant.

Mayweather's been fighting nothing but slow footed fighters. It works to his advantage, and in boxing the goal is to hit and not to be hit. Too bad, Duran was too slow.

He's already specified why he quit over three decades ago in a sports illustrated article for the Hagler fight. He doesn't need you to formulate his thoughts for him.

He really hasn't, it seems that to this day Duran himself doesn't even know why it happened. Watch the 30 for 30 special on the fight and see.
