Fair point about lomanchenko for some reason i completely forgot about that fight, although i don't think walters has had a fight since donaire. I need to check that, haha im starting to second guess myself. I cant believe i forgot about lomanchenko....

Edit: Well i guess lomanchenko would have 2 tune-ups to walters one. I think the plan was still after these tune ups that they would fight later in the year. Which is fine by me, but it was a fair point on your end tho.

Following all this network, promoter/manager bullshit makes my brain hurt.

It would be a shame if this fight never materialized. One of the fights I'm looking most forward to on the horizon.

Walters never sounded keen on facing Lomachenko, Haymon or not. Now this means he has a place to hide out for a while. The fight could still happen, but only if Walters wants it and it'll be happening next year at the earliest.

For his sake, he's better off with Haymon than with Arum/Top Rank, even though we'll miss out on Loma-Walters which would be a great fight.

Will be based on the type of deal that Walters and his management signed with Top Rank. Looking at BoxRec, Walters seems to be three fights into whatever deal he signed with Top Rank.

With Haymon in his corner, Walters would then have an adviser, working on his behalf, who has knowledge of where all of the money is hidden.

Haymon understands the TV rights money, understand the revenues coming in at the gate, understands international TV rights, and a host of other aspects of making money on an event.

If Lomachenko-Walters ends up being a fight that Top Rank insists on, per their contract, Haymon will make sure that Walters doesn't get shorted on an nickel.

At least he can clean out the Haymon stable before he fights Loma.

He's not "fracturing" the sport; he's using his leverage to give the double bird to HBO/Top Rank/Oscar/Duva and everyone else refuses to adapt to the new order of things.

Promoters are to operate at the behest of the fighter, not the other way around.

Cotto saw the light; Stevenson saw the light; hopefully Lomachenko gets the opportunity to see the light.

If Loma truly wants certain fights, he'll have his management push his promoter to get him the fights, regardless of how his promoter feels about making said fight.

like a fighter in this new order should.

                      Here you go:

The contract is for five fights in two years, and to keep up his end of the bargain, Walters has to keep winning.

"Nicholas has to win to keep the contract alive, and if he performs well, Jamaica's boxing fans will be able to see him on HBO," Deschamps pointed out. "The purse money that he will command will depend on his performances and his success, and if he does well, he can be a headline fighter."

So he would have been 4 fights through if he had gone through with this fight. Instead he's on 3 fights owing Bob 2 before the end of this year.

Haymon won't care if Walters sits on the shelf, it stops them from overtaking his guys at the top of FW division.
