If UFC is taking over boxing, why do they paid so little compared to boxers?

UFC has definitely plateau'd off since 2009-2010. But this could be a necessary stage in the business model - they are getting more "free per view" tv deals, which means more fans watching.

And difference between that in boxing is, UFC's free per view platforms are literally free-tv (basic channels). Whereas the only "free per view" boxing is premium subscrition channels.

That's why an HBO/Showtime free show is a success if it generates 1 million viewers. Whereas the latest UFC show with McGregor got upwards of 3 million :0

There was no way there former model of PPV only shows would survive.

I bet this upcoming McGregor/Aldo PPV does 800k or so. Now think how long in boxing we'd have to wait to get a fight like that? Literally, once the fans started demanding the fight, it was made.

In boxing, shyt would be dragged on forever, and most ikely one would lose and kill the matchup.

ALL THAT SAID - F the UFc.. Boxing 4 life. Old school brutality via the sweet science.

800k is mayweather/pacquiao territory. The UFC has never done anywhere near that (besides UFC 100 where they might have got 800-900k), they just like to pretend that they have.

UFC is also much more fickle - positions and rankings change, top guys lose more, etc.

But the mid-level, and journeyman UFC guys make more than their equivalents in boxing.

Most are making double to four times as much as what their listed salary is from sponsors, and they get a piece of the PPV sales as well.
What's your definition of mid level or a journeyman? Some contender you've never heard of? Nobodies fighting nobodies? A top level pro fighting a nobody?

Bundu made 85k to fight Thurman. Amagasa made 300K against Rigo and he's never fought outside Japan. Bundus check for that fight would put him in the top percentile of UFC fighters and Amagasa's check would be even with several UFC headliners.

This was always a weak excuse by the UFC to justify bad purses, and now many sponsors have left and they went with an exclusive deal with reebok which further hurts the fighters. Locker room bonuses are way overhyped too. Unless the fighter has PPV points (very few do, and ppv numbers are down anyway), they aren't making more than disclosed.

Ironically, the one good thing that the UFC has done in the recent past, fighter insurance, has almost destroyed the sport in a way, as fights are getting canceled left and right.

The 'taking over' topic belongs in 2007-2009. It was incredibly annoying and disrespectful for the mainstream media to hammer this crap into the ground every time they talked boxing, they finally dropped it.

The next superstar in UFC. This dude is exciting as hell. Love watching him fight. Mcgregor is like the Mayweather of MMA but he knocks people out.

Fox Sports 1 has near 100 million homes, yet almost all the UFC cards do HBO/Showtime numbers and Aldo-McGregor will be lucky to hit 350k on PPV

Also, a guy on the undercard of a HBO BAD show makes more than most of the UFC guys.
