In the time and place he fought them I'd go with Corrales, Castillo, ODLH and Cotto. Probably on par with a lot of others like Hatton, Judah, Maidana, Alvarez.

We're all waiting for you to list Groves' and Bute's best wins... That should be funny.

          +1.

Fighters Floyd beat that at one point were arguably better than prime Froch: DLH, Mosley, JMM, Cotto.

Fighters that were better than prime Froch at the time Floyd fought them: none.

Bute has Bika (prime), Librado Andrade (prime), Magee and Glen Johnson (old but coming off strong showings).

Lara has Williams (coming off a KO loss), Trout (prime), Angulo (past prime) and Smith (past prime). I refuse to count Vanes as a win because that wasn't a robbery.

I fail to see the big difference. I would say Lara has better wins but not by the margin you are making it out to be.

I don't recall saying Bute and Groves had amazing win lists, but neither does Lara. Degale, Bika, Miranda, etc are not that much different from Angulo, Trout, etc.

If you extrapolate Lara's record based on close decisions it sways in his favor but that would need it's own thread or 20...

Quite a few. Floyd has fought in better divisions. I'm surprised this is even a question.

I wouldn't count Vanes either. Lara looked awful in that fight. But still we're in agreement: Lara's resume is superior. By which margin? This is debatable.

Corrales was not a universal favourite, the odds were damn tight.

And anyway, Corrales was just a fun fighter but nothing more, Froch is currently one of the best on the planet, has been for years and has one of the best resumes of the past decade, Corrales doesn't hold those distinctions. Its as simple as that.
