Why isn't Marquez as popular as Canelo?

My familia in Mexico(from Baja to Sinaloa to Michoacan to Sonora) think he's a good fighter, but they hold in higher regard all the greats like Chavez, Sanchez, Lopez, Kid Azteca, Herrera, Castillo, Zarate, Saldivar Olivares, MAB and Morales because they didnt whine or complain like Marquez does. They also believe that Marquez was using peds when he fough Pac that 4th time, and although they were happy Pac lost, they believe Marquez brought some shame to their country as well.

I Because he's 41-years old. He got over shadowed by De La Hoya, Eric Morales, and Marco Antonio Barrera in his prime. But he's still very popular in his own right. He's beloved here in California.

Marquez kind of only got exciting later in his career. And he's getting up there in age. When himself, pac, mab, em were fighting each other, he was the least exciting out of the four.

Marquez first became a world champion at 29 years of age while Canelo was a 2o year old when he became a world champion. I am a fan of both fighters while you seem to be only a fan of Marquez.

People knew him but he wasn't anywhere near as popular as JMM. His popularity skyrocketed after DLH and HBO got a hold of him.
