Why isn't Marquez as popular as Canelo?

What is the variable(s) that enable Canelo to headline his own shows against an Angulo and do 350k, while Marquez can't headline against a guy like Bradley and crack 200k?

In general, I think it's safe to say Canelo can do bigger numbers than Marquez with similar opponents.

Why? Marquez is way more exciting, more skilled, has been on the bigger stage more... Marquez is everything a Mexican boxer should be... Although he falls more in the Mexican school of boxing that focuses on precision boxing/punching/counterpunching, than the Mexican school that focuses on inside fighting.

I Because he's 41-years old. He got over shadowed by De La Hoya, Eric Morales, and Marco Antonio Barrera in his prime. But he's still very popular in his own right. He's beloved here in California.

Marquez kind of only got exciting later in his career. And he's getting up there in age. When himself, pac, mab, em were fighting each other, he was the least exciting out of the four.

It's primarily due to age IMO, Canelo just appeals to the younger crowd because he himself is young as well. However, if you asked just about anybody in Mexico who's the greater fighter of the two almost every single one will answer that it's Marquez.

Honestly, if Canelo looked more like Erik Morales and didn't have red hair and white skin he wouldn't be where he is today in terms of star power.

Hell no, if anything Canelo is the one with the boring personality; very reserved and serious. Marquez on the other hand, if you watch him on Golpe a Golpe on ESPN Deportes, he's very charismatic and articulate.
