The fact of the matter is that Lamont did not deserve to be fighting for chance at unification. Now he doesn't get that chance - but still has to fight someone who is good, and (if he does well) can legitimize his career again. He'll keep the belt but will probably have to face someone else tough in that fight and, to me, that restores some cred to that part of the LW title.
