The catchweight is disappointing. I would have preferred to see this fight at 140 lbs. for the WBA, WBC, IBF, The Ring, TBRB, and lineal junior welterweight titles. Peterson didn't fare well in his first fight above 140 lbs.
With that said, it doesn't change that Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson are fighting each other. It's a good fight and they should put on a good show for the prime time broadcast network television audience. And that's good for boxing.Comment

Re-read what I said first:
Garcia was never a natural LWW to begin with, he was always too big for the weight class only making weight 9 times out of 29, they say he walks around at 170lbs.he's (Danny) had more fights above the LWW weight limit in his career
Duran by contrast was a smaller guy coming up, and addressing your other point Duran fought 4+ times per year at least two of those per year as champion were at the LW limit of 135 or below.Last edited by Weebler I; 01-16-2015, 07:44 PM.Comment

Who's left at 140ish . Only other option on Haymons side is Broner but that fight won't happen because when Garcia moves up Broners going to be fighting for his belts.
Lamont's good I thinks he's top 5 in his div. Should he still have that belt , no
I had Lamont winning that fight , it was close but I think khans team made a huge mistake even fighting him in his hometown. Khan team started to believe his own hype and put him in a bad position.
I think that's why their so carefull now because his team did a bad job with the Lamont and Garcia fights and it but them in the a$$.Comment

It's an embarrassment that the likes of ****** and Void are allowed to hold belts hostage at weight classes they have no intention of competing against other contenders at. And this isn't even taking into account all the other titlists under that stable that are allowed to duck real threats and cherrypick lesser (often unranked) opposition.Comment

Agree with all those posters saying Peterson is the ultimate paper champ. How he kept his belt after failing a drugs test and then getting sparked in one round is criminal. Now he can lose this one and then drop back down and keep defending it against gypsys like dierry jean.Comment

Sorry but you're changing the subject and that doesn't work with me. You were complaining that Garcia has been fighting above 140 while being JWW champion. Duran did that far more than Garcia at 135 while he was lightweight champion. Fact. And Duran was not a small lightweight.
