    Because his race and nationality.

Americans won't jump on the band wagon of an American fighter like we see Asians, Euros, or Latinos, etc. just because someone is American, we don't support them, that's the primary difference.

The most popular American boxers are latino for a reason, the large latino populations in the US.

Mayweather as much money as he's making isn't even popular, he got rich off of how much people hate him, $40 mill+ a fight because so many people want to see him lose that 0. Pure hatred has made this man rich lol. If you watch practically every one of his fights the entire crowd is rooting for the other fighter lol.

Skin color also has a lot to do with it. Look at Canelo, this guy has millions of fans because of it lmao. And yes, racism is alive and well in MX, they hate dark skinned people. If Canelo looked like Marquez we wouldn't know who this guy was.

I like Wilder but I'm just afraid he might turn into a Tye Fields type of fighter.

That isn't false but to be a truly popular Mexican fighter you also have to be exciting. From my experience at the barber(a lot of people talk boxing there for some odd reason), most Hispanics there hate Floyd because they think he fights like a coward, they like fighters who box their way to a stoppage not to survive. El Titere is not very well liked by his countrymen.

No one should like Canelo but he's boring as ****. Has to be because he's white.

I have a few Mexican friends and I can co-sign this. I spoke about boxing with one of them and he said that in his country they think Mayweather fights like a pussy and they don't like him.
TBH I can just smh at this mentality. Boxing would be boring af if everyone would be a brawler and many of the boxing greats were not the exact type of a brawler who swarm his way to victory. I don't get why some people just watch this sport for the KO-s.

IMO he's one of the most boring mexican fighters to ever enter the ring. There are way better mexican fighters mexico could be supporting but they absolutely refuse. They being waiting for an irish champ for a longggg time. If canelo looked like any other mexican, no mexican would give a ****. White blood is worth it's weight in gold in mexico, where the term "indio" is used as an insult.

He is definitely one of the more boring Mexican champions in recent history(more Mexican champions have a very aggressive style while Canelo is more of a boxer-puncher), but I wouldn't say he is boring. What does an exciting boxer look like to you?

Racist Americans will never admit they're racist. Why would they expose themselves like that? LOL!

Its much easier to ridicule the people that are aware of racism than to come out and admit it.

And to keep it in the realm of boxing, most of the popular black boxers in the history of the sport were normally 5 to 6 times better than the competition. Kind of like Prime LeBron in the NBA.

You HAVE to recognize someone's talents when they're that good (see Jon Jones in UFC, Floyd Mayweather in boxing and Tiger Woods in golf).

On the other hand, AVERAGE white boxers mostly have strong fan bases and popularity without being leaps and bounds better than their peers (Ex. CARL FROCH, KESSLER, HATTON, SPADAFORA, GATTI, WARD, etc...).

Even lighter toned Mexicans like Canelo get a pass.

Lets be honest... Sugar Shane Mosley was so good in his prime that HBO wouldn't even sanction a fight between he and Arturo Gatti or Mickey Ward when they had the chance to. I remember HBO flat out telling Mosley they wouldn't allow him to fight Gatti or WArd on their network.

Yet everytime you turn around HBO is airing some special on the greatness of Ward and Gatti.

Lastly, and I said this before, if Deonatay Wilder's last name was MCGREGOR, WILOVKIN or WILZAGHE he'd have a fanbase larger than prime Ricky Hatton had.

Not complaining either... just pointing out the reality of the situation.
