He's going to lure guys from 154-160 to sign with Golden Boy to get a chance to fight him for the big payday if anything. He is the next PPV star and he's only 24. They will do fine. It's already working with the signing of David today.

why? Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade is beginning to garner major interest from Showtime and Haymon basically has contracts with every other viable fighter at the weight (Charlos, Lara, Trout, Vanes, JRock, Ishe Smith, etc).

Canelo may end up being "the guy", but he's not there yet and, if he doesn't get the Cotto fight, he doesn't have many other opponents in the que.

Canelo has a budding name; Haymon has routes to all of the belts at 154, most of the top talent at the weight class, and Showtime ready to showcase the matchups.

Well on the plus side for GBP, they have a big budget to spend as they see fit now. And they weren't turning a profit as things stood anyway.

Has the 3rd (or 4th) biggest draw (US ratings) in Canelo in his prime while Floyd and Pac have 1-2 years left. This could change cuz Canelo has to learn to speak english to become a truly big superstar and guys like GGG, JCC Jr and Kovalev are doing huge ratings.

-Haymon has working relationships with at least 6 other key promotional outfits, so there's no need to go to Oscar for dates.

-Golden Boy received no where near $50m in whatever settlement that was reached.

Plus Amir Khan, Lucas Matthysse, and Leo Santa Cruz. But they'll be gone when their contract with GBP is done.

Don't be surprised if Khan stays with Oscar, Matthysse might too but Santa Cruz will probably leave him.

While Saul Alvarez is indeed a growing star in the game it is not a idea to base your company solely off him. He has not put up great PPV #'s and he is not exactly the best fighter either. He is somewhat slow, can't cut off the ring properly etc...If Canelo/Cotto does happen..that's a make or break fight for Golden Boy as a promotional company.

Not really, Canelo is still young. A huge fight just puts him in the spotlight even more.

I agree, but having Canelo is a pretty big pull.

There are very few promoters that can promote major events successfully. Lets say Haymon stops doing business with GBP. Top Rank won't work with them and neither will Roc Nation. Those "6" promotional outfits are probably small time and have no recent experience putting on big cards.

I said "up to $50 mill". The number wasn't released so no one knows. Do you have proof that it was "no where near" or is that just speculation?
