why? Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade is beginning to garner major interest from Showtime and Haymon basically has contracts with every other viable fighter at the weight (Charlos, Lara, Trout, Vanes, JRock, Ishe Smith, etc).

Canelo may end up being "the guy", but he's not there yet and, if he doesn't get the Cotto fight, he doesn't have many other opponents in the que.

Canelo has a budding name; Haymon has routes to all of the belts at 154, most of the top talent at the weight class, and Showtime ready to showcase the matchups.

Well on the plus side for GBP, they have a big budget to spend as they see fit now. And they weren't turning a profit as things stood anyway.

The damage had been done by Schafer and Haymon. Whether Oscar took a stand or not, the company wasn't making any money off all those Haymon fighters that were 'signed' to them.

Willing to work with Top Rank and Haymon (this might change if Schaefer gets involved)

Just got paid a settlement up to $50 million

Gets paid a flat fee if any of Haymon's fighters want to fight on their cards

Has the 3rd (or 4th) biggest draw (US ratings) in Canelo in his prime while Floyd and Pac have 1-2 years left. This could change cuz Canelo has to learn to speak english to become a truly big superstar and guys like GGG, JCC Jr and Kovalev are doing huge ratings.
          a few points:

-Oscar sabotaged his relationship with Showtime when he reneged on the agreement to have Canelo stay on Showtime by going to HBO (notice how all of the GBP fighters that have been on Showtime are signed by Al Haymon, with no non-Haymon fighters on Golden Boy on any of the said shows).

-Golden Boy's only marketable fighter at this point, with a longer contract with the company, is Canelo Alvarez. no one else has much pull.

-Haymon has working relationships with at least 6 other key promotional outfits, so there's no need to go to Oscar for dates.

-Golden Boy received no where near $50m in whatever settlement that was reached.

Don't be surprised if Khan stays with Oscar, Matthysse might too but Santa Cruz will probably leave him.

Don't GBP also have the heavyweight Luis Ortiz? or is he promoted by someone else?

He has not put up great PPV #'s and he is not exactly the best fighter either. He is somewhat slow, can't cut off the ring properly etc...If Canelo/Cotto does happen..that's a make or break fight for Golden Boy as a promotional company.
Not really, Canelo is still young. A huge fight just puts him in the spotlight even more.

Very good point. At least he'll make money now he's rid of those two leeches.

Schaefer truly screwed DLH over. He used DLH's company to build Haymon's stable up.

That's all good and dandy but all those guys called canelo out and want to fight him. Supports my view on canelo being the future cash cow.

Canelo's deal was until the end of 2014. Oscar didn't renege on anything.

I agree, but having Canelo is a pretty big pull.

There are very few promoters that can promote major events successfully. Lets say Haymon stops doing business with GBP. Top Rank won't work with them and neither will Roc Nation. Those "6" promotional outfits are probably small time and have no recent experience putting on big cards.

I said "up to $50 mill". The number wasn't released so no one knows. Do you have proof that it was "no where near" or is that just speculation?

Anthony Ogogo and Jason Quigley were signed to Golden Boy, but are they also signed to Haymon?
