In their 15th fight as a pro most "atgs" and "champions" have not hit the canvas 4-5 times.

And yes the jap clearly wobbled Rico in the 7th round after the knockdown. He buckled him.

Rico is getting buckled and dropped throughout the showcase ladder of his career.

Because Rigo is too overconfident at times and these flash knockdowns can be exploited by a masterful counterpuncher resulting in actual damage

He fought tough world level fighter Cordoba in his fifth fight. P4P top five lineal champ Donaire in his 12th.

Obviously his am background should be taken into account, but most atgs and champions are not fighting his level of opposition this early in their pro careers

The only close fight Rigo has had is Cordoba, but he did enough to win and most importantly got a very valuable lesson for moving onto the bigger and better opponents. We'll see how Loma has learned when he faces another solid pressure fighter: his footwork, constant switching of angles and variety should see him through but he'll have to be able to adjust next time.
Ok, fair enough. I can see you appreciate both guys.

Cordoba was Rigo's learning experience, Salido was Loma's. Only difference is that Rigo got the W and Loma didn't (but should have imo).

Btw imo Rigo is just as unproven against solid pressure guys as Loma. That's why LSC should stop ducking him, that's the fight that would sell me completely on Rigo.

That's fair. But the jap also buckled and dropped him. You can't help but have to wear the criticism and skepticism on the chin. It comes with the territory of being highly regarded and in my opinion under performing. When you're getting dropped by guys you shouldn't be then expect this type of backlash. It's that simple, not all of us are drinking the Koolaid. I have alalws been skeptical of him and stuff like this doesn't help his case. Period.

I can see that his chin isnt iron.

But his recovery has been fine so far and i havent really seen him hurt other than the Maroquin fight (even then people overstate how hurt he was)

If people are waiting for him to be KO'd then be prepared to wait a while

It does show what is looking like to be a glaring weakness of Rigo's.

That said, it doesn't negate the fact that he remains one of the most talented pure boxers on planet earth -- and he still did what he had to do. Not only did he still win the fight, he stopped the dude. And was winning decisively on all 3 cards.

He's a good boxer, no one's denying that. Just how good? That's where there is a large divide. You say really good great, others say average/fairly good. He's not the well rounded total package y'all make him out to be, imo of course.

As with all boxers the truth is inside the ring. I just hope that he can get the chance to prove it one way or the other before he is too old.

Frampton, Santa Crux, Quigg are the fights we need!

Hes 34 and the majority of top guys in his division are avoiding him, won every fight clearly, yet hes a bum, people criticize for the sake of it.

However I'm happy to run with it - Rigo got dropped twice, he was exposed, he's not the fighter we think he is and is overrated. If that's the case and Rigo isn't really that good then the other guys can step up and fight him can't they?
