I think Alexander would have been enough to get the fight this year. Mayweather is all about fighting guys coming off impressive wins, regardless of their actual quality as an opponent, and I think he's been waiting for Khan to get such a win. Beating Alexander and picking up the IBF title would have been exactly what Khan needed to land the fight.

Whether you agree with that statement is one thing, but to me he has basically written off any chance of a Khan fight happening. Everybody just needs to move on.

Khan needs to create his own path now, he has a decent platform. Stop chasing Mayweather around like a little kid in the playground. Carve your own path and legacy. If you are good enough and as good as you say, then you can do that without Mayweather.

Floyd still needs an opponent. Irrespective of what he says, Khan remains the most viable outside of Pacquiao or Cotto.

Beating Broner would have still been viewed as the bigger win by the wider public. Alexander has no real fanbase outside of his howetown.
