Man, I am not a Floyd fan, but if you truly enjoy the science of boxing and not just the action you do have to respect mayweather (in the ring). He has that incredible ability to adapt. And that truly is a gift. Boring? Yes it is! But if that's how my brain worked, than hell ha I would do it the same way.

I also get the feeling Floyd might rematch Cotto for MW title at the light-middle limit or a silly catchweight.
Its the type of thing he would do so he and his fans can gloat about it apparently being history and 'proof' he is the TBE.
I don't mind the fight, I think its a good fight but the fact it'll be for the lineal MW title and probably at 155 or something is absolutely ridiculous.
By doing so, He Avoids the Beating Pac Brings...

Its beginning to sound like Kellerman and all the people who want to see Cotto/Alvarez bump Mayweather from the May 2 date vicariously see a bump off of the May 2 date as a loss for Maywather.
It is actually rather sad that people have such empty lives that the idea of a boxer not getting to fight on a date that he wants to fight would bring them so much joy.Comment

I wasn't talking from my perspective, but by the boxing fan mass in general which seem to despise him. Some good, some ridiculous reasonsComment

I don't really think a rematch is necessary at all. I don't see how Cotto could possibly win, but there are worse fights he could take I suppose.Comment

Max Kellerman, boxing analyst and part of the HBO broadcast team, says Floyd Mayweather Jr. is going to need an opponent on the level of Manny Pacquiao if he intends to block the potential Miguel Cotto vs. Saul Alvarez showdown from securing the lucrative Cinco De Mayo date of May 2nd.
For a few years now, Mayweather has been able to block anyone from taking that date from him. Cotto-Canelo, considered by many as the second biggest fight in boxing, is viewed as being strong enough to take away the May 2 date from Mayweather.

... Or (most likely) he is part of the PR team which try to force FMJr into the Pac fight.Comment

Mayweather could fight on regular Showtime on the same date... That's the Al Haymon special move lol...Comment

There were rumors about a Canelo vs Cotto fight on Cinco de Mayo 2015 -- i.e. the same day Mayweather Jr. is fighting every year.
According to Fighthype.com, Floyd Mayweather will not defend his WBA/WBC junior middleweight titles this Saturday against Marcos Maidana.
This is a outstanding message that, next May, Floyd Mayweather will (later edit would) take (...) a Cotto rematch...
In my opinion, Mayweather would rather look for the Cotto fight with the 154 and 160 belts on the table...Comment
