That would suck. The first fight wasn't even close and is most famous for Floyd getting a bloody nose. lol.

+ it's not like Cotto is a fully fledged middleweight anyway, he was comfortable at 154, so don't really see why a catchweight would be needed. Cotto was 155 vs Martinez.

Man, I am not a Floyd fan, but if you truly enjoy the science of boxing and not just the action you do have to respect mayweather (in the ring). He has that incredible ability to adapt. And that truly is a gift. Boring? Yes it is! But if that's how my brain worked, than hell ha I would do it the same way.

Its the type of thing he would do so he and his fans can gloat about it apparently being history and 'proof' he is the TBE.

I don't mind the fight, I think its a good fight but the fact it'll be for the lineal MW title and probably at 155 or something is absolutely ridiculous.
Fighting Cotto, for the MW Strap, fits FRAUDS M.O....

By doing so, He Avoids the Beating Pac Brings...

A Beating that the Roid Masters Ego, can't deal with!!!

It is actually rather sad that people have such empty lives that the idea of a boxer not getting to fight on a date that he wants to fight would bring them so much joy.
Right now, this May 2 negotiations, I blame all of this to Arum for Floyd-Pac not happening BUT if Canelo-Cotto will seal the May 2 and Floyd fight other fighter in different date, then Arum is a smart ass coz he knows that its only an excuse for Floyd not fighting Pac... Why the hell you dont want to fight Pac other than May 2 but willing to fight tomato cans on other dates."peeleft:

I don't really consider myself a fan of mayweather, but I do enjoy him and I don't hate him like most seem to do at all.

I wasn't talking from my perspective, but by the boxing fan mass in general which seem to despise him. Some good, some ridiculous reasons

A rematch would be good. First fight wasn't close in rounds, but nearly every round was hard-fought. Cotto-Canelo happens though imo.
When did he make a big deal out of it? He says he wants to fight on that date, nothing else has been suggested to him in public.

I don't really think a rematch is necessary at all. I don't see how Cotto could possibly win, but there are worse fights he could take I suppose.

For a few years now, Mayweather has been able to block anyone from taking that date from him. Cotto-Canelo, considered by many as the second biggest fight in boxing, is viewed as being strong enough to take away the May 2 date from Mayweather.

... Or (most likely) he is part of the PR team which try to force FMJr into the Pac fight.

According to Fighthype.com, Floyd Mayweather will not defend his WBA/WBC junior middleweight titles this Saturday against Marcos Maidana.

This is a outstanding message that, next May, Floyd Mayweather will (later edit would) take (...) a Cotto rematch...

In my opinion, Mayweather would rather look for the Cotto fight with the 154 and 160 belts on the table...
