Comments Thread For: Kellerman: Cotto-Canelo Knocks Mayweather Off 5/2

Max Kellerman, boxing analyst and part of the HBO broadcast team, says Floyd Mayweather Jr. is going to need an opponent on the level of Manny Pacquiao if he intends to block the potential Miguel Cotto vs. Saul Alvarez showdown from securing the lucrative Cinco De Mayo date of May 2nd.

For a few years now, Mayweather has been able to block anyone from taking that date from him. Cotto-Canelo, considered by many as the second biggest fight in boxing, is viewed as being strong enough to take away the May 2 date from Mayweather.

I've said this on so many threads two weeks ago.

Floyd is only interested to get the may 2 date. once he get that sched, he will find a way for Pac negotiation to fail and then fight someone else on that same date which is the plan A all along.

People are making it out to be a big deal if Mayweather loses May 2nd. If he can't fight Pacquiao, I just think he'll brush it off and fight on another date.

It's been made a far bigger deal than what it is.

This whole thing is starting to turn into a pissing contest. Kellerman and everyone else who is saying that Alvarez/Cotto will take the date from Mayweather are going to realize very soon that Mayweather is the top pisser in the boxing game! Floyd will fight on May 2 whether it is against Manny Pacquaio, Amir Khan, Danny Garcia or Cotto.

I doubt Cotto/Alvarez takes place at all and if it does, it damn sure won't take place on May 2.

Its beginning to sound like Kellerman and all the people who want to see Cotto/Alvarez bump Mayweather from the May 2 date vicariously see a bump off of the May 2 date as a loss for Maywather.

It is actually rather sad that people have such empty lives that the idea of a boxer not getting to fight on a date that he wants to fight would bring them so much joy.
