People just were skeptical cause the article started with "Arum said" and you should know what that means and see we were right again with not believing anything thats coming out out of Armus mouth...

"The capacity crowd at the Venetian resort in Macao were suitably impressed, but beyond that, the news garnered little attention. The actual number of people who tuned in to watch at least one minute of the fight from the mainland turned out, according to CSM Media Research, to be well below 2 million, but Arum***8217;s absurd prediction ***8211; somewhere between wild optimism and outright lying ***8211; was still the number that grabbed the most attention."

arum is a liar. just like schaefer is a liar. but they lie in the opposite directions when it comes to numbers. schaefer would over-exaggerate numbers while arum would shrink them. remember, schaefer would normally project as high as 3 million. he's a moron.

so 60 million is not hard to believe considering zou shiming was in the undercards.

If it were true Bob would have yelling it from the top of his lungs after the fight.

If you're referring to me, I'm not hating. Calm yourself. I was just giving my opinion.
I wasn't referring to you. People make bold statements that know nothing on the subject. People just make things up to belittle individuals. That's what gets me.

50m homes, if Top Rank's numbers are to be believed, likely watched the fight for free.

The moment you put an additional price tag on anything, the audience halves. You put half a week's groceries as the cost of said event and you likely don't even get 5m homes. lol

Obviously Boxing is not as culturally entrenched in China as it is in Mexico. But 48 million homes tuning in to an event is impressive regardless of what percentage of the audience it is. As far as I know, this is the first time any promoter has made a concerted effort to court the Chinese market. Considering the economic boom that China is experiencing right now coupled with the American Boxing market becoming stale, it's pretty ingenious.

It may take a little while to build up, but it could end up paying massive dividends in the future.

Plenty of people pay for the NFL Network. If they charged people to watch the Superbowl or even playoff games, people would pay.

Plus Arum has been smart enough to feature Asian fighters in those Macau cards. The Chinese love them some Zou and Pac is an international superstar. Donaire has been there a few times, etc.
Last year's Super Bowl, if the Nielsen estimates are accurate, was watched by over 110 million people.

How many people honestly have paid for NFL Network?

I think he means people pay for NFL Sunday Ticket or RedZone probably, because NFL Network has been pretty basic for awhile. I wish we had BoxNation, basically an NFL Sunday Ticket for boxing.

you may have mixed it up a bit.
correct me if i am wrong, cash cow means one who generates steady profit for other not for himself. i.e. cow produces milk for the farmer not for the cow.
to make it a bit clearer.

Pac is a cash cow for his opponents because they get more fighting Pac than everyone else i.e. Maidana fighting Floyd gets 1.5 Rios fighting Pac gets 4 million (these fgures are based on what poster here says)

Floyd is a cash cow for network because he generates more steady profit than everyone else.

The numbers are big. Official figures quoted at the recent 21st annual China Content and Broadcasting Network (CCBN) conference indicate that China has 400 million TV households, of which 210 million subscribe to cable TV (CATV). Of these cable subscribers, 140 million receive digital service while the rest are still on analog systems.
The number of TV households in the United States 2010-2011 was estimated to be about 115.9 million.
I looked up some figures if anyone cares.
