Mayweather already had this date penciled in a year ago. It was fine then. It shouldn't be a problem now.

And Oscar has said he will move Canelo Cotto for Manny Floyd , the date is open but Bob is trying to use it to duck the fight , there is no reason the fight cant happen on May 2nd , biggest day in boxing should have the biggest fight in boxing .

Bob Arum is and always has been the biggest roadblock in making this fight .

The point of fighting on Mexican holidays is to help his PPV buys against guys like Guerrero, Ortiz and Maidana but a Pacquiao fight doesn't need a Mexican holiday, it sells big on any date.

If it's just an ego thing that he demanding that date then that's silly on his part, no need for it.

Canelo-Cotto actually does need that date because it will struggle to push 1m buys.

I believe it's both an ego thing, a way to screw around with Oscar/Arum, and a way to get the most money out of the fight. Pro-May 2 people are saying that although Pac isn't Mexican, fighting on Cinco de Mayo weekend will generate the most $$$ since a lot of boxing fans are Mexicans. I do agree with you that they can fight on any date of the year and generate plenty of $$$ though. This is just the (lame) situation that we have to deal with (again).

To be fair, I don't think Floyd has said it's May 2nd or nothing. Although, Arum is kind of indicating it's that for him (i.e. not on May 2nd).

Hopefully they can figure it out. If the fight doesn't happen, I don't believe it will be because of dates. Way too trivial given the sums involved.

If Floyd wants this fight so bad he can move the MAY 2ND date. This fight will do all time numbers no matter what date it's on. The date should not be the reason Floyd is gonna be stubborn.'

Manny should call his bluff because there is no one else Floyd can fight that will fight rival Canelo vs Cotto.
