It's not Manny, it's Top Rank. In theory, Top Rank benefits from having the Canelo-Cotto fight on that date because it will presumably do extra numbers on a Mexican holiday.

Those weekends in May and Sept are the biggest boxing weekends of the year; making the fight on another date simply does not make sense. Arum is just doing his usual bull**** and you guys are eating it up.

Like someone mentioned earlier, this is a silly cat and mouse game between Arum and Floyd. Oscar is willing to give them the date that they are making a big deal about so now Arum just has to say "okay let's do this" so the fight can be made.

I can't believe you guys have sat here and watched the way Arum maneuvered Chavez Jr away from Sergio Martinez for YEARS so he could milk all the money he could out of him before making the fight he was way likely to lose against Martinez, even admitting to doing so once the fight way made, and not see that he's been doing the exact same thing with Pacquiao.

I would tend to agree, I don't see the date being a real issue in the end if both sides are serious.
