maidana was supposed to be this warrior who fought everybody. Everytime this warrior steps up he loses. Boxing guru Robert Garcia said during the mayweather fight that maidana would fight in a backyard for free. All of a sudden when thurman is mentioned he becomes a prize fighter. Now he wants a khan payday lol.

Maidana, in two fights, just earned $3m-$8m in fight purses (range is due to the unknown of what his take was on the Latin America/Argentina TV rights for both fights), saw his profile siginificantly raised, and has the Mexican American boxing community, even in defeat, still backing him.

Thurman still doesn't have the right risk/reward profile for Maidana to take that fight as his first choice.

Maidana has no other options. Khan will fight Floyd or Brook, Al won't allow Broner to get in the ring with him again, so Thurman is the only real option unless D.Garcia moves up to 147, but even then I'm guessing he would have a warm up fight to get used to 147.
