By all means he can. The problem is that he's delusional about it. As it has been pointed out by many posters in other threads today, he's coming off losses and doesn't have many options.

Manny is with TR so he's out. So is Bradley (who is not a cash cow anyway and and would be an almost guaranteed loss for Maidana).

Khan has way bigger fish to fry (Floyd or Brook).

That leaves who? Thurman is about the best fight Maidana can realistically get next. So if he isn't scared, why not fight him?
