  • It's obvious that Arum does NOT the fight.

    • And I doubt Cotto would fight Canelo on that date.

What kind of backwards logic is this?

You're asking me why can't Floyd move date, he can, by why would he? Why on Earth would Arum want to have Canelo-Cotto on May 2nd when they can have Mayweather-Pacquaio on that date?

Why can't Cotto-Canelo move date? Doesn't that make sense to move that fight as opposed to Mayweather-Pacquaio the MUCH bigger fight?

I don't know Roach training anyone has to do with Arum. They can sort that between themselves that had nothing to do with Arum.

Clearly you were not thinking straight when you made this thread
If mayweather agrees to fight pac they can move the date. simple as that. If mayweather insists on another cherry pick like a mere con then they keep the date. It's called leverage

        • I just find it funny that for so long people screamed ''Yeah, they need to pressure Floyd into taking the fight" and "Yeah, the competition will force a Mayweather v Pacquiao fight," only to celebrate Bob Arum for refusing to accept the fight on May 2nd.

It reveals what has always been known, people are more concerned with hating Mayweather than they are with actually seeing the fight take place.

Then when it looked like Canelo was dead serious and had agreed to terms, then all of a sudden Floyd is talking that Cinco de Mayweather nonsense.

If he wants to stick to the date and challenge Cotto-Canelo, he's going to have to do it with Thurman or Khan (who still has Garcia problems) or some other Maidana level fighter since Freddie Roach can't be in 2 places at once.
This is the part you guys don't seem to get, maybe I'm wrong? Showtime would never allow Mayweather to fight Khan or thurman or anybody head to head with a competing pay per view of that caliber. They can't, his guarantee is just to high. They would lose a fortune.

"Freddie Roach can't be in two places at once" Are you for real? Like that would be a reason to have Cotto on that date over Pacquaio. PacquIo is the priority not Cotto and that has absolutely nothing to do with Arum.

I've already said that it could be on another date. As can Canelo-Cotto.

It can be on another date but May 2nd would maximise the revenue so why would you want Canelo-Cotto on that date instead of a much bigger fight.

You're absolutely dreaming if you think that date won't effect the sales. History shows us that clearly it will.

Why is Arum even concerned with Canelo and what date he's on? That's the key question. It makes no sense.

Seems like an excuse and a ridiculous one at that.

You posted this with the idea that this will support your argument it actually does the opposite

It's very strange that Arum would say this about that date and it's not a good sign.
                He's representing Cotto

                • Pac fans avoiding this

                  Always knew it was Arum.

                  #fightmayweather you coward!

                  • The question some are not or refusing to answer is why does Arum care about Cinco De Mayo being a date for a Mexican fight NOW? He never did before, he staged fights on this date with no Mexican in the top billing before. Now he has the chance to make the biggest fight, maybe in history, he cares about a Mesican fighter he doesn't even promote????? His own fighter (Cotto) would prefer to fight in June and HE'S the champion, but Arum cares about Canelo and Mexicans? I can understand DLH being pi$$ed but Arum should be all over it, after all HE said "no more excuses".

I thought this was what everyone wanted, Mayweather forced to take on a top opponent if his date was threatened. Right? Now it's happened and he's called out Pacquiao, some want MORE difficulties of moving the date? What gives?

Now it's "Floyd has to move the date".

                      Something else.

Please give me one good reason why Mayweather-Pacquaio shouldn't be on that date?
I could be wrong but I think they will move the date if Mayweather agrees to fight Pacquiao. But otherwise they won't. I think they are doing this to pressure Floyd into taking the fight. seems obvious to me.
