Middleweight title my frigging arse.Delahoya has backed himself into a corner, cause if cotto decides to fight in NY for the puerto rican day festivities, Where does that leave canelo? Who would he fight on cinco de mayo weekend that would draw customers over a floyd ppv. If cotto fights floyd in NY for the puerto rican day festivities at the Barclays for the Middleweight title who cares about cinco de mayo? Cotto would make more money, have a home field advantage, and a chance to beat the #1 guy in the sport, and they can laugh at all that energy Oscar put forth to get a ppv date that wont sell much compared to Floyd vs Cotto in NY for the middleweight title the money/match not the date matters
If Cotto and Floyd want to be middleweight champion of the world they need to fight GGG at 160lbs, not each other at some ridiculous cooked up catchweight.Comment

Oscar has really made a fool of himself because regardless of what Cindanelo wants he isn't going to dictate anything to Cotto. This kid Canelo has been hoodwinked into thinking he's an elite fighter, but truth be told the kid has been given wins over guys that actually beat him like in the Lara fight. Top that off with fighting bums before getting schooled by Floyd really exposed his zza. But if they still think using the Mexiacn thing will work they might want to remember that boxing fans come from all walks of life beside Mexican....Comment

Oscar was in the News the other day talking about They have agreed to Terms....not according to this.

Oscar De La Hoya made news this week when he stated Canelo Alvarez had signed his part of the deal to face Miguel Cotto. Cotto's team said that there was no pressure on their side and they were still negotiating.
Cotto's advisor was at media day in Philadelphia for Felix Verdejo and others who are fighting on the Unimas card this weekend and kept the same stance.
"There is no agreement for the fight but we' re in conversations, stated Gabriel Peñagarícano. Canelo couldn't have signed anything because we're still in negotiations and discussions. Because we're at that stage, what could he agree on? I don't know why Oscar would say something like that because there is no agreement between both parties.
Cotto's advisor was shocked to say the least at Oscar***8217;s comments that came out on Tuesday.
I was surprised Oscar made that announcement because he's a friend of mine and we play gold together. I know he probably had no bad intentions when he made the announcement but the truth is there is no agreement yet, explained Peñagarícano.
Of course in the negotations of who's A or B side came up. Cotto's advisor feels the bout will be dubbed Cotto-Canelo, much like there was a disagreement in Cotto's last fight with Sergio Martinez, as Cotto wanted top billing.
But the advisor wanted to make it clear, there is no agreement, yet.
We've discussed a lot of everything. We haven't come to an agreement even though I think we will but it depends on both parties. Much hasn't changed on our side, But at where we stand all doors are open for Miguel Cotto.Last edited by Detroit29; 12-12-2014, 11:07 AM.Comment

Open your eyes .......
3-4K, hhhuuuuuummmmmmm where are you getting these numbers from Bob Arum?????? The kid did good in Tx because the tickets were priced at 5 for the price of one. Hell you claim he's a draw, you must be talking about Crayola.... There's only one fighter in the sport that is worth watching and they know there's no way they are going to knock him off the PPV title. But I'll give them a T for trying....Canelo can draw 300 to 400 thousand buys against non-big names. He gave Floyd his biggest payday. He is a huge draw and he is only going to get bigger. At age 24, he is already bigger than Cotto.
Seeing as Floyd is near the end, it is wise for Oscar to focus his attention on the next torch bearer of the sport. If Cotto continues to be a drama queen, then Alvarez can fight May 2 on regular HBO and draw a nice payday and huge ratings.Comment
