Soooooo Canelo wants to pick the date, beer sponsor, weight and will only balk on the venue if the alternative is Texas? What? Sounds like CANELO is tough to negotiate with, its like he had the terms already set going in and just wants Cotto to say yes.

Of course they BOTH will negotiate the beer sponsor more $$$ to each. So, Cotto is going to try and pull Tecate were Canelo will try for Corona. Simple.

As far as venue, we ALL know that Texas will benefit Canelo if it goes to a decision.

NYC has been fair in Cotto fights and CJ Ross is out the game in LV.

As far as the dates/venue goes, IMO it has been agreed that:

2 MAY in VEGAS: Only IF FMJr. and Pac does not gets announced by year's end (since a fight of that magnitude MUST be announced by then, just like Cotto vs Canelo)

13 JUN in NYC: Only IF FMJr. vs Pac takes place in May

That is why the date is the easiest to agree upon.

Holmes and Camacho weren't moving up in a weight and weren't underdogs. And Cotto is the real MW champion because he beat the guy. Is he the best MW? No. Would he beat GGG? I just think the Cotto victory has been overblown. He beat a shot old guy. It's happened millions of times. Holmes beat Ali. Camacho beat Leonard.

Sergio never fought someone with the handspeed and footwork of Miguel. Cotto's faints and positioning disrupted and overwhelmed Sergio.

Its called negotiations. Fighter A demands a list of things, Fighter B counters with their own demands, Fighter A and B compromise somewhere in the middle.
