this is my favorite fight of all time.

people talk about vargas losing all his big fights and how he didn't have the skills to match the elite. please. vargas matched and beat ike quartey and winky wright at like 21/22 years old. vargas was ruined by Trinidad. the dlh and mosley fights were not the same vargas. we never got to see vargas in his real prime.

I hear you, but this is where the handwrapping accusations track back to, because had shown to take a good punch from fighters like campas, marquez, quartey, wright and he got dropped and rocked throughout this fight....tito might have had his hands wrapped illegally for this fight as well, we will never know..

But you cant put tape on directly on the hands you got to have the gauze as well...so idk

Totally agree. Was like night and day before and after Tito. And it showed when Wilfredo Rivera had him on ***** street.

I don't speak Spanish so idk but I've heard several times that Trinidad told him something like "now we're here, now we'll see" or something like that.

One of my favorites as well! And i believe he did lose his prime and left a part of himself in the ring that night....some posters dont get that part they say because vargas was fighting the likes of de la hoya at 24 and mosely at 27-28 that he was still in his prime for those fights.... but thruth be told he was a shell of himself for the mosely fight, and the de la hoya fight he had enhanced conditioning but his shot reflexes were starting to show....still he was competive in both of fights despite not being in his prime, and to do that you have to be a pretty special fighter imo... and he was!

vargas had so much confidence in himself and it was like Trinidad just took every bit of that from him. he looked and acted differently in the ring after that fight. he spoke differently in his interviews. he was really a shell of himself after that fight.

It's hard to find another fighter so diminished after one fight....excluding tradgedies of course

Compare ringwalks, introductions and post fight interviews in his pre-Trinidad fights and his post-Trinidad fights. You can see what I'm talking about. 2 different people.

Michael Grant was another one. Lennox messed him up in the head real good too.
