Manny Pacquiao is a heavy favorite to retain his welterweight title against Chris Algieri when they meet Saturday night (HBO PPV, 9 ET) in Macau, China (where it will be Sunday morning).

So if things go as many expect, and the PacMan comes through, then what? Of course, many hold out hope that his next fight will be the one we've all wanted for years against fellow welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

But we've all heard the talk for years and even though Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, who represents Pacquiao, said there are serious talks for the fight, let's take it with a grain of salt for the time being until presented with more evidence than just Arum's word.

So who's next for Pacquiao if not Mayweather?

There are a lot of opponents,Arum said. Lets see how Jessie Vargas looks on the card.

Vargas is defending his secondary junior welterweight title against former lightweight titlist Antonio DeMarco on the Pacquiao-Algieri undercard.

What happens if Diego Chaves upsets Tim Bradley? Arum said of the main event of his Dec. 13 HBO card.
I think Arum wants the Floyd fight, does Floyd want it is the question. He can fight Cotto for more than enough money to satisfy Showtime for at least one more fight. There is WAY, WAY too much money for Arum to make by making Manny vs Chaves over Floyd/Pac AND Cotto/Canelo. You're talking 4-5 million buys, even split in half that's a killing.

In one way I feel this way..but in another, Pac should be applauded for finally speaking up, at the right time. There is renewed interest in this fight like there hasn't been in a long time and he has had a good deal to do with that.

So use your "rational thinking" while I use facts based on the numbers readily available. LOL. Before it was all so true what you said, wasn't it?

Floyd got mad last time that he tried to deny negotiations were going on and the HBO exec told the truth and showed Floyd was a liar.

Floyd gets mad at anyone trying to make this fight happen... so if Showtime tries to make it and Floyd gets mad..which Network is going to run to this time?

I wouldn't be surprised if Floyd denies he had any talks with Showtime about making the Pacquiao fight...

I can just imagine Floyd at the table right now. Ok, I agree to all that... where we fightin?

Arum: "This fantasitc temporary stadium, we even have benches!"

Floyd: "Ya'll know it really is Arum this time right?" **leaves**
Trying what exactly? So a temp stadium is completely imaginary and has NEVER been done before for big fights?

you are talking about bob arum-who let sat back and waited to make srl./hagler and has let almost every big fight he is involved in (or could be involved in) "marinate" to maximize profitability.
