golovkin has been defending his title at middleweight for longer than any other champion in the division. that is why he is the real middleweight champion.

    taylor is the ibf champ
lee/korobov winner is the wbo champ
    cotto is the wbc champ

not one of those guys have made a title defense yet.

so you tell me who is the real champ at 160. His name is Golovkin.

Mayweather Jr vs Cotto 2 - Cotto's WBC middleweight championship
Chavez Jr vs Rogelio "Porky" Medina - super middleweights
Thurman vs Robert "Ghost" Guerrero - WBA interim welterweight championship

swamps anything that Golden Boy/K2/HBO could put together, without much protest. lol

      • Would much rather hear about him trying to make Mayweather vs Pacquiao INSTEAD! Sorry but I don't see the outcome of Mayweather vs Cotto being any different just because Roach is his trainer. Cotto is the same Cotto, his Competition is the biggest difference since being with Roach, not really him as a fighter.

Martinez looked done against Murray to be honest, not to discredit Cotto win over him but Martinez was not the same OBVIOUSLY!

canelo vs golovkin - wba middleweight championship
mares vs gonzalez 2 - wbc featherweight championship
          Figueroa vs linares - 135 or 140

          which card do you prefer?

Arum isn't going to let Pacquiao go; Cotto made sure that he became a free agent, to chase the fights and purses that are in his own benefit. He hired a lawyer/adviser whom he can trust (Gaby Penagaricano) and he's got a fight-by-fight relationship with Top Rank (DuBoef and Cotto are far closer than Cotto and Arum).

Pacquiao has refused to even acquiesce to a Cotto-type deal (free agent, but working with Top Rank fight-by-fight) and Michael Koncz, Pacquiao's adviser, seems to have far more loyalty to Bob Arum than he does to Pacquiao.

            conditions are different

I will take this fight over Khan and Alexander.

Floyd would never fight Cotto again. He got hit too much in the 1st fight and we all know Floyd health first.

The Mayweather card, almost without question, especially with the proposed undercard being hinged on fighters that have soft/non-ties to Golden Boy Promotions (Figueroa and Mares are tied to Haymon and seem to have expiring GBP deals;Gonzalez isn't even promoted by Golden Boy).

Mares-Gonzalez 2 is a really good fight , though; might get leeched for a different card.

Personally, I think Cotto's in much better physical shape today at the weight under new strength conditioner McMillan than he was then. He looks better offensively too under Roach.

I want to see Cotto-Canelo and FMJ-Pac but if Cotto-FMJ II is made, I'll be interested. Just my own view.

One thing I know is Cotto wants the Mayweather rematch, he's alluded to it a couple of times.
                  100% on point with bold.

Miguel has stated multiple times or made ref of him wanting the FMJr. rematch.

Ill bet that if given the opportunity to chose, with a "theorical" equal purse Cotto takes FMJr. any day. I also believe that he will take the fight even for a smaller purse than fighting Canelo.

I'm 100% sure that deep inside, Cotto thinks that he can beat Floyd and Ill back him up 150%!

And if AL doesn't pony up what Cotto wants-Floyd and al have to find a dance partner since Manny is likely fighting Jesse Vargas.
                    True...true....100% correct!
