An alphabet belt being degraded in that fashion is no big deal. It's more the fact that the lineage is attached to Cotto.

Exactly WHO did Golovkin beat to become the "real" middleweight champion?

Beating an old Martinez at 159 who got a gift v Murray means you're the real champ doe...jog on

fk the lineage really, when you're avoiding fighters a la Stevenson it's rendered virtually worthless to the boxing public

right, and he's fighting Martin Murray next who many believe beat Sergio Martine. in other words GGG is fighting and beating all the top guys available in the division. He's ranked #1 and Cotto is champ. Quite obviously GGG is more than deserving of a chance to fight for the lineal crown, buy no, welterweights like Mayweather and possibly Timothy Bradley are guys that will get a shot instead. Canelo at least has fought his past two fights above 154 and is a worthy opponent for Cotto. That's the fight that should happen. Regardless who wins that, GGG IS the mandatory to the WBC belt. So the winner would either have to fight GGG or vacate and that goes for Floyd as well if he were to fight Cotto for the 160 WBC title.

May Cotto 2 isnt gonna happen(I dont think). It appears Mayweather may have backed himself into a corner here. May vs PAC. Make it happen. But on what date? may 2nd is going to be cotto canelo. TR wont compete against themselves will they?

          I know, Im rambling but....

... why would Floyd Mayweather Jr give up Cinco De Mayo weekend (massive for Mexican American fight fans), when April 25th means nothing to him, Cotto, or anyone else and the only fighters who might compete with him for the date are Chavez Jr (who is likely to end up on the Mayweather bill anyway) or Alvarez (who now has no viable opponents with star power)?

Todd DuBoef(Top Rank) can easily sit and negotiate with Haymon, Espinoza(SHO), and Ellerbe(Mayweather Promotions), hammer out a package for the fight ($15m +20%-30% of the PPV upside), and get the fight done for Cotto.

Floyd doesn't sit with Arum, Haymon doesn't sit with Arum, and the fight gets made. kinda how business gets done.

Then why are you OK with Cotto doing it?

                    • He should be looking to make a mayweather - PAC fight (pending the results for 11/22). Anything else is a joke
