Pulev is garbage; the HW div. is trash.

That doesn't make sense and simply isn't true..
Sure, BEFORE a boxer hits top level they can pad, but as soon as they raise their competition level, they are expected to fight quality opponents.
We can go 2 or 3 levels deep here too and we see the same thing. Better records all around. This is because there are simply more boxers overall and those with very poor records are eliminated before you know about them.
Yesterdays champions, are todays bums, sorry.
On the weight, weight is ALWAYS an advantage in boxing. The greater the weight discrepancy, the greater the chances the heftier guy will win, this is an irrefutable fact and the reasons for divisions.
And there have always been boxers who are chubby in every era, but there have never been as athletic boxers as there are now.
Chubby boxers can be successful at HW. HW boxing is not a sport where it is always best to be lean. There is nothing about chub detrimental to boxing, it's performance that matters.
You really don't know much about boxing...that much is clearComment

I don't think so, Pulev got the better of the jab exchanges and I don't think the punch stats were one-sided (2 power punches in it?). It seems Pulev had prepared to avoid the big right hand but forgot to focus on the left hook which was the key to the win for Wlad.
It's easy to call it unskilled when we're used to watching little guys with their fast movement etc but these are big men, the skills aren't always as obvious, but they're definitely there.
Either you see the skills or you don't. Big men have problems developing similar skills to smaller fighters, therefore they just don't have them. they aren't hidden as you seem to suggest. Especially when he could stand to lose an extra 15 lbs.
Anyone can take two looks at Poolev and see his "skills" are non existent and the only thing he has going for him is an OK jab. He doesn't have good precision, his feet seem to be planted in cement, his head movement is non-existent. He only throws the jab. Basically he has a very amateurish style.
Where are the skills supposed to be?Comment

Pulev didn't look great to me. Too stiff, no head movement. That's bread and butter to Wlad.
Let's be honest though, he's more or less unbeatable. The only man i can see causing him any problems is Tyson Fury, and while he might cause Wlad some issues early, i think Fury will GTFO once Wlad figures him out and starts unleashing those big rights.
I'm not a fan of Wlad, i think he holds far too much, but i will say that he's a great champion, and a great ambassador for the sport.Last edited by removed; 11-16-2014, 06:25 AM.Comment

Heavier boxers have always been and still are more dangerous than smaller ones no matter what.
The skills are the same.
Being larger can affect your stamina & speed negatively. Which is why larger fighters need to fight at a more measured pace. Obviously these things are more than compensated for by the benefits.
How do you explain that some of these 240lb tall fighters are actually FASTER than cruiser sized boxers of the past also? WK for instance is faster than most of Ali's opponents AND bigger. Stiverne's fists move quicker than Frazier's did! Nikolay Valuev at 320lbs was faster than 215lb Sonny Liston!
And speaking of pure skills, objective analysis of current HW's compared to past HW's shows clearly better form and technique than olden days BY SO FAR IT IS UNBELIEVABLE YOUD EVEN TRY TO COMPARE. Previous boxers fought like drunks by comparison!Comment

why wasn't butterbean a champ if weight is an advantage? its science not opinion. being chubby effects your stamina, agility, mobility and other factors in negative ways. people in other eras were in much better shape hence they weren't as big.Comment
