sanchez was great, he proved that. its unfair he didnt get the chance to show just how great but it would be more unfair to elevate him above more accomplished fighters based on speculation of what he might have achieved.
Well Sanchez resume is much better than Lopez'.

Annihilating Lopez x2, Gomez, a good fighter in Castillo and of course Nelson at 23 was extremely solid and painted for a star studded career. He had movement, above average power, in ring boxing IQ, in other words he was a well rounded boxer.

Yo, quick question for all my Sal fanboys. At one point in Sal's career, was he attempting to change his nickname? I don't remember which fight it was but when they announced his as a the winner I believe they called him, Salvador " El Assessino" Sanchez. Can someone confirm? (I don't want to go back scavenging through the tapes )
            One nickname was "Chava":

Its Chavez SR... and its not really close..

Sanchez is close but Chavez was a much bigger star.. His fight with Camacho broke all records for viewers in latin america

                    1. Salvador Sanchez
                    2. Chavez Sr.
                    3. yup, Juan Manuel Marquez
                    4. Ricardo Lopez

sal was the most talented and had the highest upside even though he has great fighters on his resume. Sr. just based on sheer workload and carrying the gold standard of mexican boxing for such a long time. marquez is greater than the perfect lopez due to the fact that lopez didnt really beat any great fighters.

Lopez and Chavez accomplished the most and Sanchez in my opinion was destined to be even greater than them too if he have lived long enough. Chavez is in my top 3-4 favorites of all time and I love everything about his style, his legendary toughness and his facial expression that's saying "I could beat you up sooooo bad like no one in your life, only if wanted... (but I won't because I'm such a cool guy)" you MUST love it, he is the face of boxing with his legendary toughness... while Lopez is not classic mexican boxer, he PERFECTED every move in the ring that it was incredible to watch, every move was fluent. The greatest ever in his weightclass(es), you could only question the level of his opponent that was never rich that much in these weightclasses. He had suspectable chin to say at least but it's not his fault and even those fights where he was dropped, he got up and won them all (convincingly).
