Kovalev's power is savage, coming in squared up to slap-flurry is simply a KO waiting to happen. Kovalev wouldn't just win, he would crush him.

Kovalev would absolutely destroy Slappy Joe. I think both Stevenson and Kovalev would spark him out. They both throw more then one single punch unlike Lacey, both are prime unlike Hopkins and Roy which was key to Joe out hustling them down the stretch. Kovalev is more vicious then Kessler and Stevenson is more athletic.

Intriguing fight. At his very best I could see Joe winning handily on points, but whilst having a very good chin, he could make mistakes as was shown against Mitchell, Hopkins and Jones. Kov has real power at LHW and Joe was never a LHW, so if he were to make a mistake against Kovalev, he would have been in serious trouble. I would lean towards Kovalev in this one.

No one thought a guy who had never gone past 8 rounds would shut out Hopkins over 12. Try taking off the jingoistic goggles for a minute.

Calzaghe never fought anyone as good as Kovalev anywhere close to their prime.
If/when he lands he's in trouble.

"OMGZ Calslappy got dropped by old Roy and Bernard y'all. What do you think KOvalev would do?"
Is that seriously the extent of the analysis that goes on around here?
Do people not think that Calzaghe would fight more cautiously knowing Kovalev's power? He clearly didn't respect Hopkins' or Jones' power. The Hopkins KD wasn't even about the power of the shot. It was a flash KD.
