After beating Hopkins, How do you feel about Kovalev vs Andre Ward?

Why should Ward fight Kovalev in the first place? Kovalev is too big, strong and has a long reach. There isn't anything Ward can really do to beat Kovalev besides try to land a haymaker on the chin when Kovalev is coming in. Kovalev is a big light heavyweight while Ward looks like a middleweight and not even a big puncher. Kovalev probably wouldn't hold back like he seemed to do against Hopkins so the results would be much brutal. Kovalev vs Stevenson is the only fight at this point that makes sense. Golovkin vs Ward makes a lot more sense than Kovalev vs Ward.

Why is that beside you don't want to see Ward losing.

Ward/Kovalev are physically much closer than Ward/GGG. No way in hell Ward can make 160. GGG makes 154 with ease.

Kovalev got took to the deep water by a senior citizen, Ward would drown him, but ward should come back and take a warm-up fight with GGG, if he can catch him while he's running from him, Kovalev would have something coming back at him and not fighting a 50yr old man. Look I know what B-Hop has done is neat and all (no really, it's amazing), but present day Bernard Hopkins and present day Andre Ward are entirely different animals.

Ward is still in his prime. He would need to get a tune up in to shake off the rust, though. I give Kovalev a much better shot than I would have previously thought, but I still lean have to lean Ward. Maybe 60/40 Ward.

It's one of the absolute best fights in the sport, and I no longer feel that confident about Ward winning. I'd probably still pick him, but I wouldn't feel good about it.

No. Kovalev was supposed to be the most feared puncher P4P in the world. An early knockout would have been sufficient. Do something to a 49 year old Hopkins that no one else has done. Kovalev showed Hopkins was there for the taking in the 12th round but couldn't finish it.

Don't get me wrong, I would favour Kovalev over everyone at light heavy. However, I don't think there is anyone at light heavy that can do what Ward does.
