After beating Hopkins, How do you feel about Kovalev vs Andre Ward?

Kovalev got took to the deep water by a senior citizen, Ward would drown him, but ward should come back and take a warm-up fight with GGG, if he can catch him while he's running from him, Kovalev would have something coming back at him and not fighting a 50yr old man. Ward is gonna clear them out and go get a Heavyweight title. this confirmed every su****ion about Kovalev, that Hopkins said, Wards gonna kill him he's just a hype job certain people need this kinda "boxer".Comment

Look I know what B-Hop has done is neat and all (no really, it's amazing), but present day Bernard Hopkins and present day Andre Ward are entirely different animals.
Ward is still in his prime. He would need to get a tune up in to shake off the rust, though. I give Kovalev a much better shot than I would have previously thought, but I still lean have to lean Ward. Maybe 60/40 Ward.Comment

I'm no fan of Wards style but I think it would cause Kovalev fits.
I still think Kovalev knocks Stevenson out. However, last night also showed me Hopkins would have beaten Kovalev on points comfortably if this fight took place in 2006.
I expected a lot more from Kovalev last night.Comment

It's funny that I feel just the opposite. After watching Hopkins make Kovalev miss repeatedly when he tried to load up and also catching him Kovalev counter shots when he felt brave enough to open up, I feel Ward would take Kovalev to the cleaners.

No. Kovalev was supposed to be the most feared puncher P4P in the world. An early knockout would have been sufficient. Do something to a 49 year old Hopkins that no one else has done. Kovalev showed Hopkins was there for the taking in the 12th round but couldn't finish it.
Don't get me wrong, I would favour Kovalev over everyone at light heavy. However, I don't think there is anyone at light heavy that can do what Ward does.Last edited by Adamjr91; 11-09-2014, 07:24 AM.Comment
