Great point as Jackson is average
Hoppie is correct as Jackson is not that great as a trainer. Hop beats Kovie fairly easy tonight 117-110 making the Russian look so slow and lead footed and clumsy. bet Hop to win on points and clean up. Thanks me later.Comment

It is like baseball or for that matter any other sport. How many great HOF players made for a great manager or coach? In baseball the great original Baltimore Oriole comes to mind and that would be John McGraw. Other than that it is a short list and most great HOF coaches and managers were mediocre players.
Two of the greatest trainers in boxing history were amateur boxers that never turned pro and that would be Eddie Futch and Manny Stewart. Another great one never boxed and that would be Angelo Dundee. And even HOF trainer Feddie Roach was no more then a club fighter. And believe me because I watched many of his fights back in the day on ESPN. His fights were fun to watch but he wasn't very good.
Just to make it clear I am in noway trying to compare Jackson to these trainers. But he has had a pretty decent career as a trainer that happened to have been a two champ himself.Comment

You've also got to wonder what Naazim's take on Bernard's theory of couching is?
After all he never fought professionally to my knowledge. Has that invalidated his career as a trainer!?!
I liked the classy moment at the final presser where Richardson kept his man in check when he was about to pop off about Sergey killing a man. I think he takes most of what Bernard says with a roll of the eyeballs.Comment

Yeah whenever Hopkins does an interview it does make me think, I think **** I wish this arrogant wind bag would just give an interview without trying to act like some type of genius or philosopher, the guy runs around telling people how smart he thinks he is all day, its weird.Comment

It's just talk of course, his win over Jackson has the potential to be a bit of a psychological advantage and he's playing on that. He probably thinks more of Jackson than he does almost all of the other coaches who have trained his various opponents over the years.
Someone compared this kind of talk to the stuff Khan comes out with, but it's not the same. Hopkins will say stuff he doesn't really believe in order to get under his opponents' skin or to promote a fight. Not saying I always agree with it, but you can see the logic behind it. Khan on the other hand really does just seem to speak without thinking in most of the interviews(/twitter comments) I've read.Comment

lol this is worse than robert garcia and floyd bringing up their fights against corrales.
what can his trainer even say when hopkins stopped his ass over 16 years ago and hes still freaking fighting and still a champion. thats just crazyComment

BHOP wants to get under Kovalev's skin and by letting it be known that he already beat his trainer, it may put a slight doubt in his mind that his trainer has put together the correct game plan. If he tries to execute the game plan that Jackson has laid down for him and it doesn't work right off the bat, he may be more inclined to quickly deviate from it.Comment
