It's sounds like very practical business sense to me. Neither fighter has anything to gain but everything to lose if the two were to square off against each other now; Especially Walters because he's coming off the biggest victory of his career over an elite, high profile fighter with a fan base. However, challenging a fighter who is good but is unknown and unmarketable among the casual boxing fan would be taking on too risky of a venture at this point of his career.

Look at all the money they made letting the JuanMa/Yuriorkis Gamboa fight marinate.

why? that's how it works in boxing. you build excitement for the fight to sell tickets. so you put them on the same card and sell it as an elimination tourney.

It's not like they absolutely have to fight each other at this point (though it would certainly be nice for us fans).

What if Salido didn't wear himself down, trying to make weight? That was the worst of Salido that I ever saw, and he still won. Shoulda, woulda, coulda, do it again at 130 and quit crying.

Who is crying? When did Loma ever complain about that decision?

And what if Salido hadn't come in overweight? What if he hadn't outweighed Loma by 11 pounds? What if he hadn't gotten away with 12 rounds of blatant low blows? What if the judges had looked at Loma's clean work instead of the fouling, wrestling and smothering Salido did?

I wish people like you would stop trying to shove Salido down the public's throat as a "blue collar hero". He's a proven PED user and a shameless cheat as evidenced by the Loma fight.

NO! We need to go back to the golden age of boxing where fighters consistently fought the best in their division. None of this, "let's build up the fight" crap. We don't want to have to watch these champions fight old washed-up fighters and no names for years before we get a big fight. If the fights are available MAKE THEM!

if they fought and walters won would he really get credit for the win,i mean really? people would say that lamachenkos career was ruined, that he was a good prospect that was rushed into big fights, and we all know that will be said if walters wins,i think lomachenko needs to have more fights against quality opponents before they put him in against walters, walters gains nothing out of beating him because we'll just hear the excuses,he should fight Gonzalez instead and then if loma has atleast three more quality fights, and I mean quality not against nobodies, and the reason I mean quality is because they do want to rush him so he should atleast be prepared, then he can face the top fighters at featherweight,i think walters fighting Gonzalez is a much more even fight right now
