I think it's safe to say, Mayweather has probably the best defence in boxing history

Fighting mediocre opponents most of your career and catching the better ones at the tail end of their career is no showcase for true talent. It just over glorifies yours.

You think all the complaints years ago with Jr. and his choice of opposition will suddenly be forgotten just because he's fought better NAME opponents recently but at the end of their careers?

Only a nut hugger would believe in those wins, while the true boxing historians and fans will know the truth behind it all. Smoke and mirrors son! Fools the weak.

But how great really without the hugging, pushing the head/face, headlocks, running?

If so great how come do all of these things which spoil the action, getting the referee involved so many times in the match instead of just fighting?
      Interesting point mate.

Excessive clinching is not defense. It's cheating with the aid of the ref. It just clearly means he has no inside skills and would get KTFO if the ref happens to do his job penalizing an abominable tactic in this sport.

Holding is a defensive tactic, nothing wrong when wlad does it right?

Some fans are just completely ignorant to the history of the sport. Leonard held on for dear life against Duran in their first fight and its was one hell of a fight that could have gone either way. Holyfield did it against Tyson and then it was considered the best defensive tactic against a man like Tyson (Holyfield was praised for the IQ to smoother Tyson). But when Mayweather does it, every fan forget any notion of another boxer using the same tactics.

So Mayweather is a clincher now? Then what was Ali? lol... Bunch of dummies.

I'm convinced most of you didn't watch Floyd until 2009.

That's exactly what clinching is. What Floyd did against Maidana in the rematch and against Manny was CHEATING! As Big as he is, it's embarrassing.
