Freddie Roach: Amir Khan can beat Floyd Mayweather, Criticizes Hunter.

Freddie Roach, who had guided the fighter from Bolton, England from 2008-2012 before splitting, says he believes Khan’s mobility and speed would give the 37-year-old Mayweather fits.

“I always thought Amir had the talent to maybe beat someone like Mayweather. I think it’s a very good fight for Amir. I give him a very good chance to win that fight,” said Roach, who is winding up WBO welterweight titleholder Manny Pacquiao’s training for his Nov. 22 bout with Chris Algieri.

“He’s fast, he’s athletic. He’s a pretty good puncher, not a great puncher. He has all the abilities in the world.”

“I like him in-and-out a little more, I like that speed,” said Roach. “He was getting in the habit of staying in the pocket a little too long. If you stay in the pocket for more than 3-4 punches you’re gonna get hit back and that’s what happened with Amir and that’s why he suffered a couple knockouts.

“Virgil Hunter, his new trainer has him holding instead of getting out of the pocket, throwing combinations and hold. He’s becoming a little bit of a boring fighter. I don’t like this style for him but that’s out of my hands at this point.”

Khan would have served well to be trained by Emanuel Stewart.Learned how to calm down and set up his combo's behind his jab

Undisciplined, losses focus on his task! I agree at this point in Mayweathers career Amir could steal the fight.
Floyds legs are not there for a full 12 rounds he needs to step off and around and not get on his toes or go backwards. You saw him get hit by Maidana moving backwards and was hurt at the end of a round trying to escape!

Floyd never likes an opponent that has the ability to out hustle him even if he thinks his talents are superior.

I agree with Freddie about everything he said here. I truly think Khan has a decent chance to win a decision over Floyd. I'm not a fan of all the holding Hunter has Khan doing either, he was a lot more exciting under Roach but I guess that chin of his forced him to try a more cautious approach.

Amir was always more threatening, yet more vulnerable, while he was with Freddie. He was looking like a taller / lengthier clone of Pacquiao. If they had spent more time together, I am positive they would have patched up the defensive holes in his game correctly.

                  People are too gullible

On top of having an incredibly low ring iq and terrible fighting instincts, Amir's type of style hasn't had any historical significance when it comes to troubling Floyd

Nearly everyone who had some success applied pressure. They weren't particularly fast either

Amir's reckless and open to counters. With Hunter he panics

he shut out collazo, holding or not

khan has already established a fanbase, even though its not as big as khan claims

khan can hold all he wants now, as long as it helps him win fights

                    roach is hating
