Its a dam shame I have to root against Cotto on Cinco de Mayo (if and when he does take the fight) because I actually like him as a fighter. But his fan base seems so nationalistic and delusional to say the least.

But in all fairness, the OP is probably right. To me, slick means taking very little punishment and having good feet. Sergio was 1/2 in that department. I never characterized Sergio as a defensive fighter. He was def not the Whitakers and Mayweathers of the world. He was a guy who had good power and was able to **** with the best of them. He used his feet alot to squirm out of trouble but also used them to position himself better to keep good distance. He had great timing and good accuracy to compliment his style as well. Sergios constant movement probably makes people think hes a defensive fighter which i think is a little misleading.

Stop it please..prime Martinez would have stopped Cotto...Cotto saw an opportunity and took it..no shame in that but stop acting like that was even close to the same Martinez

I got to respectfully disagree here. Sergio has never faced anyone like Cotto in his entire career. Would Sergio have had a chance to beat Miguel? Sure, his size alone gives him that opportunity but I don't see it happening. I think Sergio would have gotten out boxed back than rather than getting stopped. He had no answers for Cotto's style and left hook, and his trainer couldn't tell Sergio how to adjust either, he would have been just as lost in the ring as he was now. Outboxing Chavez Jr to a UD doesn't mean you can outbox Cotto, and KO'ing PWill doesn't mean you'll KO him either. And i'm not being biased here because of my sig, I like Sergio a lot myself but Cotto is the superior boxer here.

Prime Martinez got hit just as often as I proved. So what exactly would he have done differently?
