Martinez is not and never was "slick."

Cotto beat Sergio, and he would have done it at any time in their careers. All I read is that Sergio couldn't avoid the shots because he was "crippled." So, I did some research and looked up how good Sergio's defense was before Cotto whopped his ass.

Williams vs Martinez 31% against landed on Sergio against a volume not accurate puncher and he still landed 1 out of every 3 punches.

Pavlik vs Martinez 31% again in total punches. But Pavlik when facing Martinez at his best still landed 45% of power punches. That's basically half his power punches, keep in mind that's with good knees. Sergio's defense was impenetrable with two good knee's 4/5 years ago, man.

Sergio Martinez vs Sergiy Dzinziruk Look at that 38% of total punches by Sergiy landed on Martinez and 47% of his power punches connected on Sergio "2 good knee's" Martinez.

Sergio Martinez vs Darren Barker 38% total punches and 42% power punches for Barker.

Martinez vs Macklin 40% of this C class fighters power punches landed on the ever elusive, oh so untouchable Martinez.

Chavez vs Martinez This is when cripple Sergio showed up, at the end of the fight and it was against a C class, never been tested, untrained, lazy stoner of a fighter. And Chavez still landed 50% of his power punches.

Sergio "no knees" Martinez vs Murray This **** is crazy, you guys ready for this. Old busted up, knee injured DURING the fight Sergio... got hit with the lowest power punches of all the fights I put. Only 36% of power punches landed by Murray. Somehow, Sergio's defense was better crippled and in a wheelchair.

Cotto vs Cripple Aside from universally being regarded as the most accurate puncher and best fighter Martinez ever faced Cotto landed 54% of all punches.

I know there are still people out there who will ignore this because like most people they can't handle reality so they ignore it. Think Floyd ****ting his pants and firing people if they even say Ms. Pac-man, this situation will be no different. The fact is Sergio is NOT slick and he's been easy as **** to hit his entire career. It had nothing to do with the knees, styles make fights and the people backing Sergio made the wrong pick. Get over it, next time do some research and watch some video's before you make a prediction like Martinez at 40% still puts Sergio to sleep. Sergio at 34 still gets stopped with his trainer making excuses like Martinez poked himself with his eye liner while putting on his makeup before warming up on the mitts.

You are wrong. Sergio is one of the slickest fighters ever. He is Willie Pep. He is Sweet Pea. He is Floyd.

Sergio would beat Cotto in a rematch.

I get what you're saying but by making this point, you're still downplaying this victory for Cotto, since you're saying Martinez was overrated.

I said it was based on styles, nowhere did I say Sergio was overrated.

Martinez was one of boxing's classic overachievers, he did have fast hands though.

Been saying that since Martinez was at the top of his game, he isn't slick, still a very good fighter in his prime though.

Of all the tedious arguments that take place on NSB, this slick/not-slick argument might actually be the most tedious of the lot.

I almost took it serious until I read how you described Chavez. Chavez is big af. People never talk about the size difference when they speak on that fight. I was very impressed and Martinez was very slick in that fight. I actually think it was his toughest foe and his ATG performance.

Dont even bother with these dumb Cotto fans. Theyre going out of their way to nitpick Sergios past wins to proof the win was legit. They should do the same with Cotto for the Mayorgas and Yuris of the world......

If he was black, I would bet my house he would of been called slick ala Zab Judah.

Either way, Cotto fought an inactive dude with weak knees at a CATCH WEIGHT. Those are facts mayne.
