It don't really matter Chaves lost to Rios. As Maidana pointed out Chaves can't handle pressure and it showed. The judges had Chaves up a point or two and Rios was clearly making a push.
The Pauli Cotto fought wasn't the same one Khan fought. The reason he's getting another shot is because although not impressive in the Rios fight, he was winning.

Also you could say Maidana has lost everytime he's stepped up as well (barring an overrated, overhyped and blown up Broner). Sure he's beat C level guys like Karass, Ortiz and Lopez, but really his best wins are losses.

Outside of Pac and Floyd, I think Bradley and Brook are the toughest fights for Thurman at 147.

I'd pick Thurman to beat both though.

I want to see Thurman and Floyd. I don't care about Maidana.

That said, we all know Floyd would never face Thurman. Even though he'd take him to boxing school.

I think Thurman is too polished for Maidana but Maidana does have that relentless pressure. It's just he can be hurt and Thurman can hurt him.

Or is at least some of it wishful thinking on the part of frustrated Maidana fans?

Other thing is I'm not sure that Thurman is getting enough credit for having smarts enough to box when he ought to. I was impressed in the Soto-Karass fight when One Time appeared to have accepted that he wasn't gonna' be able to get the KO and he spent a lot of time on his toes jabbing and giving angles and staying off the ropes mostly.
Were you impressed with Soto karass when he hurt Thurman and had him backpeddling? If I recall, karass never hurt maidana.
