Also you could say Maidana has lost everytime he's stepped up as well (barring an overrated, overhyped and blown up Broner). Sure he's beat C level guys like Karass, Ortiz and Lopez, but really his best wins are losses.
Even that version of Paulie was coming off beating Juan Diaz twice, while getting robbed the first fight. Diaz was easily far more proven as a fighter and a puncher than Chaves. So why would Chaves be favored?

It's easy to say after the fact but Maidana beat both Ortiz and Broner who were heavy favorites. They only became hypejobs after Maidana beat them.

Juan Diaz is a lightweight and probably doesn't even hit harder than Chaves P4P. He has little power.

I would favour Chaves mostly based on the eye test.

Anyone who knows boxing knew that Ortiz and Broner were hypejobs and many people predicted Maidana to beat them (especially Broner). And just because it was only official that they're hypejobs after Maidana beat them, it doesn't mean they weren't hypejobs when he beat them.

You keep referring to Chaves as if he's proven anything in the sport. His power can't really be measured since it's been nonexistent in his step up fights. He couldn't even beat Rios an average fighter with back to back losses who had been treated like a punching bag his last time out.

Say what you will but Broner was a 5/1 favorite to beat Maidana same line favoring Thruman over Soto-Karass that night. The Ortiz fight was Maidana's first fight in the US and you're kidding yourself if you actually believe people gave him a shot.

I know his power can't really be measured, which is why I said I'm basing my opinion on the eye test...

And he was beating Rios (officially), do you really count that as a loss? It was by a comfortable margin if you ignore the ****** point deductions.

He was a favourite with the bookmakers but plenty of people picked Maidana to win, if you look at the official poll on here loads of people picked Maidana to win (ironically, I wasn't one of them ).

And people who knew Ortiz was a hypejob picked Maidana purely based on that, not because they knew a thing about Maidana. Anyway, just because they were favourites to win it doesn't mean they're any good.

Yes I count the Rios fight as a loss because the outcome was still up in the air at the time he was disqualified.Don't forget the ref deducted points from both fighter not just Chaves. Chaves had everything to win that fight but resorted to applying DDT's and trying to **** with Rios' eyes. When the fight got tough his only answer was fighting blatantly dirty.

If Thurman's chin holds up then he'll dominate and stop Maidana late.

A damn good close war. Maidana might go down a time or two but he will keep getting up and coming at Thurman harder and harder and he will KO Thurman in the late rounds.
