He can if he finds some marquee opponents and continues to rack up knock outs....Manny isn't American and he was one of the faces of boxing. Canelo I'm not sure will be, for his hype, and his nationality backing, his numbers aren't fantastic. Floyd before he was "money" and fought for top rank was pulling the numbers Canelo does now. He'll be huge in Mexico but unlikely world wide unless his skill level greatly improves.

ggg can definitely do it, but he needs to improve his english if he's going to promote himself properly on places like ESPN.

GGG's biggest obstacle is that he needs a foil. Someone who has a large fan base and a loyal following who could introduce him into the mainstream circles of the casual boxing fan.
Money and Pac had Oscar. GGG needs a JCC, Jr. type of fighter who can help expand his crossover appeal because the Andre Wards and the Carl Frochs of the world just won't do it for him; Which is largely due to geography.
For example, neither of those fighters are known among the casual fan in the U.S. Ward is only popular in Oakland among casual fans, while Froch's popularity among the casual fan is mainly based in the U.K. Which was due in large part to his appearing on the U.S. premium cable television networks like Showtime that finally got him noticed and recognized by the people in his own country.

what does that mean for the future of boxing??
Wachugot?
How can you say he almost did it but not quite?
He is really the only non American mega star in boxing in America. Even Chavez Sr didnt have Pacquiao crossover appeal, and Chavez was huge in Mexico, but he wasn't a known name like Pacquiao among casuals.
And no GGG won't be able to do it, he is old already, unless he fights at this pace until his 40s. I can see GGG doing some good PPV numbers around 200-300k ppv buys a fight though if they keep hyping and building him up and he keeps knocking guys out. But I dont see him doing mega numbers.
The next closest is probably Canelo, but he has to speak English to crossover to American fans, he will do good ppv numbers because of the MExican American boxing fans but he has the potential to crossover, but fighting Mayweather and losing the way he did at a young age hurt him. Canelo never had to fight Floyd to be honest, but Oscar threw him in there, and that blemish is the only thing most casuals remember about Canelo they say oh that red head mexican kid who lost to Floyd?
