this fight is a tesament to the steroid knowledge of memo heredia. it's not a "spectacular win."

marquez was a junior lightweight sized lightweight, and showed up at WW looking fat as hell.


pacquiao was a good win, but let's not act like marquez wasn't geared up, and that pacquiao is actually a true welterweight.

Counterpunchers tend to look exceptional against other counterpunchers who don't have the same speed and timing as them. Rigo vs. Donaire and Lara vs. Trout are two recent examples.

It's one of those style match-ups where the loser is made to look far worse than they really are too.

It wasn't a good win until KTFO6 happened. That elevated it from a meh win with a good name to a decent one. Idk where this greatest win of our time crap is coming from though lol.

That is the fight that shows how much Mayweather has aged.

You watch that fight and see the speed, timing, movement and general brilliance and then you watch back the Maidens fights...He's still good, but it's like two different fighters.

while true its the same with any style the better fighter will look great. But even your examples while very impressive wins dont even compare to the performance floyd had that night. Were talking one the best performances of this time

It's not the same as any style, the effect is amplified massively when you have two counterpunchers. Even great ones like Marquez can look absolutely dreadful when they're forced to take the lead.

It was a great showcase fight for Floyd's skills, but when you consider that JMM was slower, smaller, and shorter than him you realise that's what it was always supposed to be. It was a great show from Floyd, but given the circumstances it can never be regarded as a truly great performance. And it certainly isn't one of the best performances of this era.

Just imagine someone like Lara fighting JMM now. It wouldn't matter how good he looked you just couldn't take it seriously. The deck would be stacked way too heavily in his favour.

I think it's unrealistic to think Mayweather was gonna make that catch weight after a long layoff, I believe he also warned Marquez's camp about it so all went well in the end.
