I really think that is such an underrated win,
It was an absolute clinic. Floyd had been off for two years and to come back and beat Marquez the way he did was simply breath taking.

It's hard to believe that was five years ago. I remember that fight like it was yesterday.

As great as Marquez is, Floyd is just all wrong for him. JMM turns into an above average fighter when his opponent can control the pace. Its somewhere in the bottom ten of Floyd's best wins.

I don't consider his layoff a good thing either. I still think he picked an awfully convenient time to take a 2 year break considering prime Cotto, Margarito, Williams, younger Mosley were all hanging around.

Name another top athlete boxer at welterweight who takes near two years off, comes back, and lifts the title belts off the current champion.

Not somebody who comes back after a long layoff and fights propped up tomato cans and taxi drivers.

Name one if you can.

At heavyweight, Ali was forced to take 3 years off and he returned against Jerry Quarry in a non-title fight. He later won a string of NABF titles before winning the WBC and WBA from George Foreman.

Morales and Barrera were completely different animals. Floyd was prime back then but he was also a lot greener; saying Floyd would have definitely beat them is really REALLY reaching.
