It was a great showcase fight for Floyd's skills, but when you consider that JMM was slower, smaller, and shorter than him you realise that's what it was always supposed to be. It was a great show from Floyd, but given the circumstances it can never be regarded as a truly great performance. And it certainly isn't one of the best performances of this era.

Just imagine someone like Lara fighting JMM now. It wouldn't matter how good he looked you just couldn't take it seriously. The deck would be stacked way too heavily in his favour.

    In summary:

Lara is considerably bigger than Mayweather, so I don't understand saying that. Chris John and Bradley took Marquez out of his element and the size disparity wasn't much different. I think this is a case of, Mayweather being who he is whilst having a favorable style in front of him.

dude, tim bradley is SOO MUCH BIGGER than marquez. he goes vegan, and is ripped down to the bone at WW. he gets huge when he's not training.

marquez was a career FW. he moved up to LW and was in some crazy wars. he then hooked up with a self professed steroid chemist, and went through a second puberty in his late 30's.

they are not the same size.

Bradley wasn't that much bigger than Marquez, Marquez simply takes care of himself more where as Bradley (After the Pacquiao 1st fight controversy) stopped taking care of himself as much. Bradley used to body build as well, in natural size he isn't that much bigger.

then why was marquez a FW / SFW for almost 15 years?

Floyd forced Marquez to fight a welterweight only to be weighted. If he only came with the agreed weight probably the 2 lbs could make a big difference on his performance but the coward won't risk it.

What's that have to do with the time in which they fought New? When both of them fought there wasn't a considerable size advantage coming from Bradley which is what I'm saying. Bradley went through a depression, stopped taking care of himself. Marquez, judging by Golpe a Golpe looks to walk around 155ish, so he stays in pretty good shape.

It was a very good win against a very good fighter but it doesn't even rank in the top 20 greatest wins of the 21st century. Floyd dominated JMM to such an extent, he should have pushed for a KO. The fact that he didn't sums up the entirety of Floyd has a fighter.

Floyd beat him so badly that it didnt make a difference what weight both guys came in at,

it was basically a 12 round shutout as i recall,, give or take a round..

So the catchweight had nothing to do with his performance...ok.
