One of the best heavy weight fights of the 2000's era thats for sure....i dont remember every detail of the fight but i remember klitchko was doing a hell of a job in there if memory serves me correctly, i had it dead even after 6.... i might have to bring out the old vhs collection and watch that one again... i do know this fight put vitali on the map.
I kept waiting for Klitschko-Lewis to get close....

Finally a reasonable response about what really happened.youre both wrong. it was fairly close at the time of stoppage and there was good ebb and flow in the fight. nobody had the upper hand. sometimes vitali would come on strong,,,then lennox would and vice versa. they were both as exhausted as the other and either one may have fallen within the next couple rounds. nobody knows what would have happened
If Lewis had fought somebody else next, it would have been wrong. But he was 37 and the Klitschko fight probably made him feel his age. He had every right to retire. Vitali did just fine without him.Comment

You're an idiot, because I'm a fan of Lennox Lewis and I never liked the Klitschkos. You obviously failed to reD my response to your 1st moronic post. I get it, Lewis one, fair and square. And? What does that have to with him nearly getting shut out for six rounds before the fight got stopped? Where is this close fight you idiots (you in particular) speak of?You saying accept the facts is hilarious. The fact is Lewis won TKO 6. Just accept the ***n facts. Don't act like such a ***** in here.
lol Gotta love these klitlickers apparently facts are opinions ("I watched the fight and think Vitali was dominating woohoo that makes it a fact that Vitali was dominating!") and opinions are facts. ("Lewis won by Tko" ... "oh no don't mess up my thread with opinions like that!!")Comment

too bad coward lewis ducker didn't have courage to rematch vitali.
and smh at all the klitschko haters showing their true colors. klitschko brothers are ATG and lewis is a coward punk. deal with it.Comment

why does it matter what happened prior to Vitali qutting? Fighters are based on the fights outcome moreso than the performance. If you are getting beat but work to come back and then force your opponent to quit-you get credit for that.
Lennox was losing but inflicting damage on Vitali-he essentially lost a few battles but won the war. you don't get credit for winning battles, you get credit for making the other side surrender.Comment

Turning the tide due to Vitalis horrendous cut, I still think if Vitali hadnt been cut he would have stopped Lewis. He looked a beast that night shame that gash changed everything.
Lewis knew he couldn't beat him so never offered the rematch.Comment

You're the idiot, kid. Yes Lewis won the fight fair and square by inflicting great damage on his opponent in what had been a very competitive fight up to that point. According to you this means lewis was being dominated. You're an idiot, because I'm a fan of Lennox Lewis and I never liked the Klitschkos. You obviously failed to reD my response to your 1st moronic post. I get it, Lewis one, fair and square. And? I don't see what's so hard to understand. If Vitali was dominating he wouldn't have had his face turned into this:

What's so hard about saying this was a tough, competitive fight? Why the desperate need to say Vitali dominated when he clearly didn't and ended up in such a battered state that the doctors had to step in to prevent him from taking further potentially career ending punishment?
If Vitali 'dominated' this fight then Germany 'dominated' the USSR in WWII ... fact is one guy could take what the other dished out, the other couldn't, got worn down, busted up and stopped.Comment

Neither did I.
My 11 y/o memory is better than your eyes.
Vitali was done.
Over.
Lewis was gonna' KO him and that's it. And that was an out of shape Lewis who had underestimated him and really didn't want to be training anymore.
I like Vitali a lot and can't hardly stand to listen to Lewis, but it is what it is.
TKO6 abides.

what?
dude, when your opponent destroys your face with clean punches, you lose.
round by round scoring means nothing when a fighter can't go the distance.
who cares about who won the rounds? protect your face, vitali. you can freaking go blind from damage like that.
