He has to, he just sunk 20 mill into network time, and will sink a lot more into this project before it's said and done.

It's a make or break move most likely, with the end game either being he leaves the sport, or he builds a UFC style organization for boxing.

No promoter has ever shown this kind of balls.

Showtime has to be pretty damn worried about this, whatever tiny non existent leverage they had over Haymon is completely gone now. If they thought they paid a lot for bad fights before, wait until they see what they'll have tom pay now.

I agree. $20m seems kind of low to me. If he's wise, they'll have a focus on digital. Seems like those 4 regular NBC dates aren't even a guarantee either, they're saying he 'might' get 4. So for the most part he'll be relying on NBCSN.

If 20m is going to the network, he's got plenty of fighters to pay purses for, venue fees, etc. Rumor has it he may even say fck the sanctioning bodies and make his own belts also. This be a $250m/yr operation at the least in my opinion if it's going to be done right

Which is why it's suspect, high risk is not something we've come to associate with AH.

I don't think Haymon is ploughing his own money into this, it'll be other people's money, the rumoured investors. Thus, if it doesn't work out he's not much worse off.

I like the idea of having a Big fight on NBC a week after the Super Bowl that could turn out good.

Hopefully this leaves Espinoza in the dust with his crumbling network, and hopefully he'll get fired.

And just to kill two birds with one stone, hopefully the NBC plan falls apart and comes crashing down on that crook Al Haymon.

                Firstly, it's you're, not your.

And secondly, both of those conman have been conning us fans for many years now and it's time for it to stop. HBO is the future, present, and the past. Showtime is nothing.

I wonder if Espinoza will be allowed to sign off on anymore mismatches? I knew he was going to NBC, but I figured it was in place of Fox. This will alienate Haymon with CBS. Obviously he must have more to his plan as 24 dates is not enough.

The UFC model requires there to be ppv shows and I think Fox actually buys the shows and sells the advertising. White says what they make off Fox is about breakeven for the events, which are generally substandard in terms of fight quality. That said, UFC takes flack for paying their fighters less on average than boxers with the same star status.

I don't think Haymon will get sponsors to cover $22-30mill per show (including network, fighter, and other expenses). And despite having signed every possible fighter that was free, he lacks any fighter who can carry a ppv (after Mayweather, who's not about to share his ppv revenue on a scale to support this plan).

Yes, it was very interesting to read about her admitting that.

At the very least this means I can cancel Showtime though which I've been meaning to do for a long time now. I think on my satellite you have to have one of the higher packages to get NBC Sports network though which kinda sucks.
