Like the splash he/GBP made when they first landed on Showtime - there were lots of terrific fights. Who knows, maybe this deal is why he has been holding back so badly with the good fights.
This being boxing though, I have very little hope it's all gonna work out well.
Maybe the sport just isn't cut out for mainstream consumption. We all want it so bad but there must be a reason no-one can make it happen. I
f Haymon pulls it off, he's a genius.Comment

Haymon has the Money, Power and Connections when it comes to BUSINESS, hard for anybody to compete with that.
Kinda sucks for Duva as if taking one of her Top Fighters wasn't enough now you take away her network
I'm sure it is not on purpose IT IS JUST BUSINESS but DAMN
Very interested in seeing Haymon Plan unfolds, if he is investing that much then it must be HUGE. I'm all in for Boxing on Network TV, something that should have happened a LONG TIME AGO and something the sport desperately needs to reach a bigger and a younger audienceComment

You guys are missing the point.
Haymon is buying the air time himself and will have to also pay for the events and the fighters purse. He will also most likely have to get the sponsorship and advertising money himself.
He's taking a major risk here, one that hasn't worked in the past. But he's trying to bring boxing back to network tv.
Even his harshest critics, which I am one of them, have to respect that. No other promoter has the balls to do this on this level.Comment

He has to have some idea about the money he can make with commercials if he is buying time like that. Usually networks pay to have their time filled then take the ad money. It is a very risky way to do it, but I guess that is what he needed to do to get NBC on board.
Yea that money wold be separate from purses, but I wonder if that 20 million includes the cost for NBCSN to produce the shows as well as the slots.Comment

Advertising Revenue! Since he paid for those Date/Time Slots, that means he will get all of the money from the Ads/Commercial Ran during those Time Slots. Also think he can set his price as far as how much it will cost to run ads during his event. So considering the average cost to buy a Commercial Ad on network TV, ONE Commercial Break will likely take care of the fighters Purse and more.
If this thing is successful, then after this contract is up with NBC either NBC will have to pay him to stay or another network could come along and offer Haymon big money to move his show to their networkLast edited by sicko; 10-02-2014, 04:48 PM.Comment
